Kicking the idea around of possibly getting a BLR takedown in 7-08.
Anybody shooting the takedown model in SA cartridge of some sort?
Other than the trigger maybe being a creepy and heavy are there other cons?
My uncle had a 243 and now my cousin has it.
It was a pleasure to shoot off hand and not bad out of a box blind. It wasn’t a target rifle by any means but deer to 300 yards was no issue.
Not a takedown but I have one in a 257 Roberts. Trigger is not good but doable and as stated above is easily enough to keep deer accurate off hand or from something like a seated position. I've been meaning to work on that trigger just didn't get to it yet. I have a newer BLR 358 Winchester and that trigger is a good bit better......not a guarantee if you get a new one it would be, but my newer one is.
My experience with BLRs is that the triggers were the weak link... surely someone specializes in them?
I have owned several BLR takedowns and they are wonderful rifles. I had my gunsmith work on the triggers and they were much better. I had a few that would shoot MOA or a little better even....Good luck....Hb
I had a lightweight stainless t/d in .358. Nowhere nearly as good as my pre '81, which I foolishly sold in a weak moment. Neither had a target trigger but, was fine for hunting. Now the trigger on a 7mm08, pistol grip model had a nice trigger but, that one was too finnicky to keep. Right now I am BLRless but, should I run across one of the old models I may not be.
The rigid steel bitches are stalwart. The fake alloy fhuqks are junk. Triggers are tuned easily. Hint............

Tune yourself or have a mechanic tune them?
Neil Jones in PA, he’s your guy.

Yep, Neil Jones in Pennsylvania. I've sent 3 BLR's to him over the past couple of years. Well worth the money. And he's a friendly old fellow to talk to also.
i have a take down 30-06 BLR S.S. and i had the trigger fixed its a great rifle and decent accuracy too i would never sell this rifle.

Laminated stock I assume??
i had one in 222 and it will freeze up in nasty cold snowy weather .Was accurate enough after trigger work .Not a good one for north country weather . I did like to pack it ,was handy .
Mine was not a take down . Was from a special run for a sports store in South Dakota
Neil is getting up there. i have delt with him since about 89.
