It looks like it's never been used. I put a bid on a Leupold 3.5-10x50mm gloss black scope to match it, gonna have my gunsmith mount the scope, adjust the trigger to 2 1/2 lbs, install a mercury recoil reducer (it's muzzle heavy) and Pachmayer Decelerator recoil pad then I'm good to go!

The 7 Mag is one of my favorites....great all-around cartridge.
Sounds like a winning package. Good luck hunting with it. Years ago I had an early 700 BDL rifles in 7mm Remington Magnum. It had a blackened stainless barrel which was 23-1/2" long, not the advertised 24". It shot great with the old Nosler Partition bullets, the ones with the recessed beltline, 160s and the semi-spitzer 175s. I used even then obsolete H570 and H870. A buddy had to have it, so I sold it to him.
I like the bdl Remingtons. I have a Remington BDL, I purchased new in 1988, only mine is chambered for .338 win mag. I also bought a synthetic stock at the same time. The wood stock has been in the box since day 2. Turns out it is one of my most accurate rifles.
Thanks all, by the serial number this is a 1968 model, way before Remington QC went down. It's the same year that I bought my BDL in 270 Win that I gave my son. The last cow elk I shot with my 500 Jeffery at 225 yards was basically already gutted when I walked up to her. This is a much better elk cartridge lol.
That is about the same age and model that I started my BDL 7mm RM project with. That is quite a nice basis for a light weight mountain rifle if you want to "fix" it. First thing to leave was that wooden stock with the RKW ultra shiny reflective finish that cost me a nice buck. That got replaced by a Brown Precision Kevlar Poundr stock. Then that barrel got turned down to a #1 taper and the barrel and action hard chrome plated and bead blasted. The action got trued up, trigger adjusted and springs nickel plated. Green camo paint, Conetrol bases and 30mm rings and a 2.5-10x42 Swarovski PH completed the build. 7# with that scope and even lighter with a 1" 2.5-8x36 Leupold that it wore for a while.

I had a "shiny" BDL in 270 I hunted with for decades with great success. My youngest son talked me out of it and got his first elk with it. For a lighter rifle I have a Rem XCR II in 375 Weatherby that weighs 7 1/2 lbs with the Leupold 2-7x Firedot scope on it. On the heavier side i have my CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery that weighs 12 lbs with a Leupold 1.5-5x scope on it. Appreciate your feedback. My hope is my son wants it and trades me back my 270 lol
Had a BDL 7 mag from '76.
Fit good, factory pad worked, nice rifle.
Sold it and got a slightly older .300 winmag.
It too was nice.

Looking back, proly shoulda kept the 7mag
Next rifle for this guy will be a new 700 cdl in 7 rem mag. 8 twist. Gonna force it to like 175s.

I bet you won’t have to force much.
Great rifle. You done good! I love 7 mags. I’ve had several 7mag BDL’s. They all shot great. I have a C grade now, love it.
Nice! .284" fan here, in any flavor! Enjoy!
