I just inherited a 1979 Marlin 336C 30-30. I am not a gun collector, but this is a rare find! My uncle bought this brand new at K-Mart way long ago. He put it up in the attic because he didn't want anything to happen to it. Unfortunately, he passed away a week ago. Get this, it is still in the original box, still has the tags on it tied to the lever, safety stickers and all. It has NEVER BEEN FIRED!! This has to be worth something! Anyone interested in letting me know what I should do with this rifle?

I don't hunt! I have a Browning 9MM pistol and a Marlin 22. Haven't fired them off in 6 years! And when I did, I did it at the rifle range because I was bored!

Why are you so excited about a new rifle if you don't even hunt or know what to do with it?

Mine is a 1979 year model and has the nicest wood I have seen on a Marlin. I use my other Marlin in 35 Rem for heavy brush hunting just to keep the 30-30 from getting scratched up. They are close in performance, the 35 has a little more knock down with 200-grain bullets.

Congrats. Keep the rifle as a keepsake in memory of your uncle and go shoot it at the range. If you were close to him, I think you would regret selling it.

I wasn't close to him at all. And besides, having another gun in the house would remind me more that he actually committed suicide. Dumb ass shot himself in the stomach with a 1918 colt 45 (I never knew he had that gun either). What a slow painfull death that probably was. The coroner said he his lungs filled with blood and he basically drowned to death. I don't feel sorry for him. Suicide is never the answer. It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. It's a weak minded way out IMO.

If this truly happened, I am sorry to hear this, but the above conflicting statements along with the tone of your posts makes you sound like either an a$$ or a troll.

If you truly have no interest in keeping the gun, I know that several people on this board would be interested in it.

On the other hand, if you are interested in keeping the gun, there are also a lot of people on this board with loads of information and a willingness to help you along your journey to becoming a resonsible gun owner and participating the joys of hunting.

Personally, I hope you take the second route. If you choose to, you could learn a lot from the people here.

Put it on the 24 hr campfire auction with pictures and see what it brings!
