I've never used a Scirocco before on anything but the truth of the matter is that deer are so lightly constructed almost any bullet manufacutred weighing 130 grains or so in 270 caliber will be plenty sufficient to kill one. I realize that is not what you asked and I am not trying to be a smart azzzz. Just trying to give you an honest answer.

trophytaker,

The Scirocco is a good bullet, if you can get it to shoot well. My problem is that I have yet to find a rifle or load that likes it. Since you got it to shoot well, I'm sure it will work well for you!

I tried and tried to get my 270win to shoot the Scirocco, just could not get decent groups with that bullet.

Killed deer with 75 grainers from the 223AI and 150's in a 7mm RM, deer died. Have yet to recover one.

I killed a doe, 2 hogs and a coyote with the 130 Gr Scirocco out of my 270 WSM. All were DRT, but shot placement was perfect. The hogs were both hit behind the ear(running shots and yes I am bragging!), the doe was feeding twords me at about 25 yards and I placed the bullet at the top of the neck between the shoulder blades. The bullet never exited the deer and I never found the bullet during the gut job, but I know for sure that the bullet did make it well into the guts. The coyote was hit under the chin and nearly lost her head.

I tried the same thing but in a couple of .30-06' I had and got the same poor accuracy results. The Hornady Interbond though was a different story. Grouped well and worked great on a deer I shot.

If the Scirocco groups well for you I believe it will perform well.

I shoot them out of my M70 270 featherweight. I can consistently shoot under an inch with them and have had groups where all three shots touched. I have been deer hunting with it but haven't been lucky enough to fill a tag yet. Hope to this year though. With that kind of accuracy I should have no problem as long as I can keep the buck fever away this year.
I couldn't get them to group in any of my rifles,I've real good luck with Hornady SST's.

I have not used the .270 caliber Sciroccos, but have used both the .30 and .33 caliber bullets extensively. They shoot well in the rifles in which I have tried them and they perform well on game--but the only game I have shot with them are elk.

I use them in my 7x57(150), my .300 Win Mag(180) and my .338 Win Mag.(210) Deer shot with the 150 in my 7x57 show DRT tendencies with no bullet recovery. All three are accurate rifles with this bullet.

The 130 in a .270 should be a great combination if it shoots in your rifle.

I had a hard time getting the original 180 Sciroccos to shoot well out of my HS 300WSM finally found a sub MOA load w/ 4350. They accounted for 4 TX hogs, a couple whitetail and 1 muley. No recovered bullets to show.

The new Scirocco II 180s shoot well out of a Kimber 300WSM, better than Accubonds and 168 TSXs & TTSXs

130 Scirocco IIs shoot as well as 130 Berger VLDs from a 6.5 WSM.

I tried the Hornady SST loads out of my new Kimber 308 a while back. I also tried the Rem Scirocco loads yesterday. Both in 150-grain. Neither would do well out of it. As a matter of fact, they are the only two polymer-tipped rounds I have tried. I am planning to try the 165-grain Accubond loads from Federal though, so I will be curious to see how they do. So far, I have tried about six different factory loads out of the Kimber, and the best by far has been the Federal Premium Vital Shok 165-grain Sierra Gameking BTSP (see other post from yesterday). I think the worst loads so far have been the Scirocco rounds from yesterday.

150-7mm's shot well in the 7 Rem Mag;130-270's shot well in the 270 Weatherby, not so hot in 2 270 Wins.Semms to vary rifle to rifle. Could it be they need more twist to stabilize them because they're so long?

The 90 grain 6mm's are the bullet of choice in my 6mm Remington. Never a recovered bullet and not a lot of meat damage. I have used these on four different deer and always put them through at least one shoulder for DRT shots.

This year I really want to try some 130 gr. Sciroccos for Deer hunting (just for the hellofit) but they did not shoot well out of my 700 (2.5 to 3" groups), ended up using 130 gr. core locts, and they did the job very nicely.
I've tried to load them in 4 different rifle caliber's never could get them to group worth a darn,so quit trying them in load them in anything.

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I have 25-30 old style .277 130 grain Sciroccos I'd let go cheap.
