Guys,
http://www.ahlmans.com/This company offers a rem 742 to pump conversion for about $230 and even remington lists them at their website. I have heard of the pump conversions, but never seen one.
Has anyone else seen one? Shot one? got pictures?

For that money, I'd just buy a 760 for about 50 more bucks and have two guns.
The whole Remington 740/742/7400 series has cycling problems if the guide rails on the inside of the receiver get damaged. The rifle work fine as a manually cycled pump action, since the action cycles so much slower. If you have a 740/742/7400 that won't cycle and you want it to work reliably, the Ahlman's conversion is probably a good idea.

This conversion could renew some sentimental "wall hangers" or a person could get a deal on non-funtional ones to convert. I was at gander mountain the other night watching a guy try to trade his 742 on a pump and the gun counter guy didn't even open the gun case when he said they don't take 742 trades... Of course the guy was trying to trade off a problem gun and I told him about the conversions.
If I had a Rem 742 I'd pay someone $230.00 to haul it away.
But thats just me.
Wow.. Price has gone up.. Couple of years ago that was $175...
