I've just read about the accustock if it really works it may overcome my last objection to buying a Savage.Has anyone seen or handled one?

The accutrigger was the answer to the question no one was asking... Earlier triggers are wonderfully adjustable things.

Good recoil pads turn brutal recoilers into kittens... Accuracy has never been a Savage problem...

Marketing guys look to have decided the Savage rep would be enhanced by suggesting their stocks needed upgrading (they did) and that they could play it off on an accuracy issue, because Savage does not have one.

What they have is an ugly issue... Does the new stock address that? Does it cover the barrel nut? I am thinking it is marketing...

Buy an old Savage, replace the pad, adjust the trigger and shoot bugholes... And live with the fact it is buttugly! wink

Well I for one think the accutrigger was an answer to a need, very good triggers too. The old Savage synthetic stocks were horrible. The new accustock looks like a very good idea and from all reports adds consistency to an already accurate rifle. The new barrel nuts are rounded, so less obtrusive.
I say kudos to Savage for pushing things along for our benefit. They are clearly investing money in R&D and not resting on their laurels. Other gun makers would be well advised to follow them.
there is a good article on the accustock in the july/august issue of Rifleshooter magazine.
