Hi, new to the forums. So I have a 338 ultra magnum model 700 I plan on buying a stock for. My question is, what length action is it? The stock I've been eyeballing is only available in short and long action.

A long 700 action houses the RUMs-so you should be OK.
Good deal, thanks. I had looked on remingtons site and seen short, long, long magnum, and ultra length actions. Wasnt sure what areas that applied to. Thanks again.
No problem.
By the way, welcome to the forum!

As previously stated, the long action is the one you want. Barrel channels are different between LA non-magnums (30-06, 270, 280 etc) and LA magnums (7RM, Ultramags etc) so you may have to open up the channel just a little. If you have the option ask for a "Remington magnum barrel channel/contour." The stock should be a drop-in without any mods needed.

That 338 RUM is one big honking cartridge.
