That is taking "carrying cold" to the extreme.

whistle

Skyline Joe, glassing while crouching, hopping hills in no sweat. Not a wrinkle in the cloths...

Plastics and glue - Blaser rifle, just for you.

We use them at the faculty to train students. I do not care for the R93.

I do not care for the 'clean' flair Blaser hypes in all their ads and commercials either.

Just me.

I guess their are worse ways to spent 7K than that rifle and scope but I can also think of rifles that will do the job just as well for a lot less money.

The R-93's do have great triggers, the safety is extremely handy and they are very accurate. But they also aren't the best rifle as far as gas handling goes and you have to be very carefull to make sure the bolt is FULLY closed or you might hear just a click instead of a boom (had it happen to me more than once, and I'm wasn't working the bolt gently either).

Accurate interesting rifles, but expensive and they have a couple quirks..............................DJ

I have an R93; got it out of some curiosity because it was so different. I now have three scoped barrels in 25-06, '06, and .375 H&H. The latter two have been the most accurate rifles I've had; the 25 was a little more finicky but now that I know what it likes is as good as the other two. It has functioned well; is light; and the OAL is shorter than a traditional bolt rifle with the same length barrel.

I find most who have them like them because their function generally trumps their form which some people just don't like.

I like mine a lot, they are about all I take to the woods anymore. Not had the bolt problems DJ has had. Hopefully he will come back to the Blaser one of these days.

Savage unsure where you are but this part of CT was quite cold today and raw.

You talk about hunting with a cold chamber. This guy puts together the rifle, attaches the scope, loads the rifle, chambers around takes off the safety, then shoots....lol

I always wanted a Blaser as the gun intersts me but thats alot of cash

Could these be considered serious mountian or hiking rigs?

We are near Litchfield. Yes it was cold and raining with some wet snow today. The temp. was about 37 so I suggested that we go to Cabelas. Everyone else went there too!

It was too crowded to enjoy. However there are a couple of nice looking SXS Sauers in the Gun Library. smile

I should have got out more yesterday. It was windy and cold but not that bad.

I don't like straight pull rifles that much. The Blaser seems very well made from what they say.

Don't like the rifle, cool video. After he assembled rifle and loaded he was carrying hot, OH Sh-t ! $7000 for a rifle?? that's 14 nice rifles that will do anything it will do........

The standard R93 is about half of that or a bit less.

True. The std R-93 are 3Kish. The video had a wood sided Luxus model which is a good bit more and it was topped with a $2,000+ Ziess scope.

I've talked to other R-93 owners and the "click" instead of "boom" is not an unheard of occurance, you have to be sure the bolt is FIRMLY closed........................DJ

Yes, djp, it's happened to me too and at first scared me spitless..until I realized that though the lugs aren't locked, the firing pin cannot reach the cartridge face either. Still, it's unnerving.

They famously can be made to cook OOB,which is fairly sporty.

No thanks...............

I don't know what you mean by that. I do read a lot of opinions of folks concerning the R93 who never have had one or shot one which seems to be their primary basis for disparaging them.
