A friend of mine has a beautful Browning High Wall in 30-30 that he might be willing to part with.It has a 28" octagonal barrel,Lyman type peep sight and a curved, checkered metal butt plate. The gun looks new and he said that he will take $825 for it. Seems like a great deal to me,(my wife doesn't think so) I'm thinking 30-30AI with a 28" barrel =2800fps with a 150 gr spitzer.
There's one of those .30-30 classic hunters in a nearby pawnshop which has been making me think of a .30-40 rechamber. Not that cheap, though.
That is actually a very reasonable price. Especially in that condition. Just tell the wife you paid less <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
the crescent buttplates on some Browning and new Winchester High Walls are an abomination.
I recalled them being chambered in 30-30, thinking then that it was a ridiculous waste. I then developed a liking for that caliber, and rethought. Yours is the first I have heard of one in actual existance. I was beginning to think I dreamt the whole thing. WOW, they DO exist.

The buttplate doesn't look abominal to me,the checkering is functonal keeping the rifle solid against the shoulder. The gun is really heavy so no recoil pad is needed,I think it looks cool.
