i am excited, a 1981 7x57 (safe queen) classic with conetrols gonna be headin my way soon !

now to figure out deer/antelope loads for it !

wifes gonna like this (i hope !)

i figured it's something she can shoot without beating her up, if she can shoot trap with a 20ga o/u. she should be able to take the recoil from this..

anyone else have one of these and how's it shoot with what loads ?

139 Hornady Interlock and 4350 (your choice IMR or Hodgon) ought to do well, at least it did with the one I loaded for.

They might be a little tough to find right now, but if you get in a pinch the Federal Premium factory ammo with 140 grain Nosler Partition works great with very little recoil--I've shot a number of deer and antelope with a CZ 550 out to 250 yards, and even big mature muley bucks give it up pretty quickly if the shot is good. On paper with this particular rifle/ammo combo and a Kahles scope, I've consistently shot 1/2" MOA groups.
Best of luck--
Malcolm
here's a tease pic i got via email last night.

Yeah, Yeah.....Rub it in!!!!

laugh When we gonna get to see some rifle porn and target pics?
I'm getting the 7x itch myself.
Sounds like a good snag Mark.....
Das pretty bro!
gonna take an -06 and 300 rum to the range later today.
tryin out some 180 protected points with h4831 and in the rum 165 nosler solid bases.
a friends son wants to shoot for the first time, so i have 4 .22's ready to go as well.
gonna shoot my dedicated 22 ar today for the first time in months.
sbr'd with a can !
pics later.

oh, this makes 4 7's...
a 7-08, 7x57, 7x64, and 280ai....

Ex wife's Ruger 7X57 loaded with Hornady 154 round noses over a stiff load of IMR4350 is deadly on deer.

BTW,she's a little thing.
Splatt,
Finally! A 7X57 for you! I vote we make the Wyoming trip this September into a 7X57 fest....
You tease. Try H4350, Hornady 139 Interlock flatbases. Should get around 2900 if you want to. Don't forget to post the rest of the pics smile .
Good on you Splat. Didja get the .264 gone? In my son's old Ruger 77 50 gr H4350 and 140 AccuBombs do the deed. 139 Hornadys ain't bad either. Pretty nice looking factory wood.
At one time I had twins in 300H&H and 7X57. They are NICE rifles.

The 7X57 was very unfussy, and shot 140 grainers at an easy 2850 fps with several powders. I used H4350 because it was so unfussy ; it was boringly consistent.
Oh you both will like that one. It'll be a fight to see who gets to hunt with it. Enjoy and send us the pics.
he just got a custom 7x57 back from it&d !
so we both are going to be shooting 7x57's !
That is one of my favorite rifles in one of my favorite cartridges. I am envious! I hope she shoots as good as she looks.

BTW, my 7x57 loves the Nosler 140 grain Partition over a charge of RL19. Pure whitetail poison.
If I was doing it the first try would include Speer 130 FB, Hornady 139 FB,
Sierra 120 FB and lighter weight TSX, IMR 4350.

I also like Speer's 115 big hollow point for varmints/practice.
I agree with tx270. 139 Hornady or 140 Ballistic tips with 51.5 grains of IMR4350 shoots well in my classic 7x57.
Speer 145-gr (your choice, SPBT or Grand Slam) over
IMR 4831: happiness. Ref Speer #13 reloading manual.
another tease.
it'll be here next monday.

a leupold 6x 42mm was put on istead of the weaver 4x.

Nice. Nothing like the 7mm Mauser. I've had one for over 20yrs, the first cartridge I loaded for. Dispatches deer with aplomb. And in the Classic? Enjoy!
Looks like a nice one.
