Curious as to the weight of a Remington 700 long action with factory barrel? Mountain rifle, standard, etc. Just doing some thinking/planning...Be sure to list caliber so I can factor it in.
Anybody?
My 700ADL .30-06 goes 7.25 pounds with TI Stock (26 ounces) and 6x36 in Talley's (12 ounces) so about 4.875 pounds on my rifle. I think an ADL long action runs somewhere plus or minus 40 ounces without a barrel, so that sounds about right.
Very interesting. Was thinking of selling the 51L you sold me so I could build a lightweight, but seeing as that barreled action only weighs 3 lbs. 13 oz. after losing the sights, guess I just ought to order an edge and run with it. Was thinking the same scope and rings you're running.
Working from memory but I believe a long action with a mtn rifle barrel is somewhere very close to 4lb 6 ounces, with bdl bottom metal. I do know that a mtn rifle with a ti stock, talley LW and a 3.5x10 leupold is right at 7lb 1 ounce (empty), if that helps.
Check out Brown Precision's website and see "Choosing Components" in the left margin. They have action weights listed. I want to say that the last MR contour 22" barrel I weighed was 33oz and I've heard 32-34oz fairly frequently.
Brad IF you decide to sell the rifle let me know as I would like to have it .Later,Craig
