The Savage LRPV is available in 1-9 twist.

Savage supposedly does...

but for what it is worth, I have a custom fast twist barrel on a 22.250...and for the difference you get in velocity, vs a 223 with a fast twist... I'd go with the 223...

having both, the 22.250 takes more powder, and the difference in velocity is less than you'd think...

its fun, but when this barrel is toasted, I don't think I'll be in a big rush to replace it..

the 243 in a better choice, than a fast twist 22.250...

Of course both the Savage rifles I mentioned have an MSRP of over $1000 with the LRPV listing at an astonishing $1315!!!

I sometimes see the 1/9" 700 PSS .223 barrels for sale as takeoffs. A guy could punch one to 22-250 or 22-250AI for fairly cheap and screw it on a 700 SA donor.

If you were interested in a Savage 10,14,16,12 with a fast twist barrel, give a call. They'll slap on on for you.

The savage 12 is a 1-9 twist and shoots excellent. I have one and with 69 sierra i got sub inch group at 300 yards. Velocity just over 3100 fps. Pretty good long range shooter . I didn't know anybody paid suggested retail for a gun but if you want to go ahead. I'm a remington fan but this savage actually looks pretty good and functions nice. ED K

Try www.whittakerguns.com for a better price, but I don't know of anyone who pays MSRP for a rifle, particularly for Savages. Maybe so, on a new model, in short supply, but not for rack rifles, already in the system.

Every time my buddy brings this up, though, the "practicality monster" rears it's head, and one has to wonder, "why not just buy a .243?"

ratsmacker!!!!! Thanks for the link. They have a 7RM for less than $400 that I might be sending off for.

I'm fully aware that nobody pays MSRP but a Savage with an MSRP of $1315 is still breathtaking to me.

You're right. I like Savage and there's no way I would pay that much.
