I bought one recently and hope to have it in the next week or so once the Australian paperwork is done. I just loved the combination of the relatively light weight, 20" barrel and the open sights and thought it would compliment my recently acquired 9.3x62 African Safari, which I am very pleased with.

Anyone have one and if so your impressions?

hadnt see in till this point. I like the concept. heavy contour iron sighted carbine length hammer forged barrel. like the slim red pad. i like the rifle.
Now if they could do some magic and put a user adjustable trigger that doesnt make you sh1t yourself trying to fire the thing. im thinking it'll be closer to 7.75 lbs in the real stock.

How are you going to fire a rifle accuratly when the trigger pull is 90% of the rifles weight?

Ruger has a long way to go to get back into my pants.

You have a point. My 9.3x62 trigger breaks at about 5lb but at least its got no creep. It does not worry me - I do not like light triggers on bigger guns. I have a gunsmith that will ease off the trigger on the 308......about 3.5lbs hopefully.

You can get a lighter trigger spring from Ernie the Gunsmith for a few bucks and the trigger will be quite nice.

How long has ruger been around?
your telling me that they are incapable or disinterested in producing a decent trigger on a rifle thats been around as long as the 77.

how does tikka make a rifle, paying euro wages ($33.7 per hour average) box it ship it thru an importer who gets a cut, to a dist who gets a cut, then a dealer who ets a cut and into the consumers hands for less than a ruger? They can still aford to put a decent trigger in.

First of all, Ruger has an excellent, two stage target trigger on some of their rifles. And, of course, any decent gunsmith can redo the one that most of them come with into something almost everybody finds acceptable.
Tikka's rile design in no way can match Ruger's rugged design features and it's record for reliability under bad conditions. E

Takes me about 10 minutes to get the LC6 to a very acceptable pull with no creep. No more time than it has taken to replace it with a Timney and fit the safety.

The two-stage triggers typically come on their varmint/target rifles.

If subjected to hard use or less than good conditions in the field, or if absolute reliability were an issue, I would certainly pick the Ruger.

Now that's a really nice rig in 308! Didn't know that they'd made it.

I knew they were making them and I was really pleasantly surprised when I contaced the local importer and found that they had one!

Its just a nice little rifle to walk about with in a great caliber! I will scope it with a VX3 2.5-8 which should make a great little package!

I'd like to see that matte rifle in a salt and pepper laminate. That would be a very slick set up with a New England rear peep.

Chuck at CDNN told me yesterday that ALL of the $400 RCM's in any caliber or color were sold out...As always I am a dollar short AND more than a day late!

I looked at the Ruger Website after I hung up, and lo and behold ya gotta see the MSRP price increase to believe it at over $900 bux. Oh Well I'll go back to looking for a cheap New Haven WSM donor I guess but the 338RCM has my attention for sure.

Seems like CDNN are sold out of things lately. Good prices sell out quickly. I ordered a camo Howa 1500 in .270 for my daughter's Christmas present for her hubby today for $339. Our first choice was a .308, but they were sold out.
