Any price? And will they fit all montanas?
Yes, they'll fit all montanas. Price... you'll have to contact cvmw, but I think he said around $50?
Awesome! I dig that look too. If I get 1 I would want it exactly like yours. Sweet!
Ok,....I'll make about 30 to start, give me about two weeks to get them complete and anodized.
What would be the preferred Color for ano?
Black. The rest of my rifle is Cerakoted black, so...
If I were to get one, I would want to match the stainless as closely as possible.

1.8 oz difference between mine and the original stainless
Factory stainless weighs 2.74oz
Aluminum weighs .94oz

The best way to do that is to get a non-anodized trigger guard and have a fine bead-blast applied.
If I were selling these TG's that's how I'd offer them... not anodized.
Talley recently started anodizing their "stainless" rings, and they don't match at all... it almost never does.
I really like the as-tumbled finish.
What alloy did you go with?

Thanks for your input, I will bead blast some and have them Clear hard ano for durability, I will have some Tumble finished and some Hard Ano black.
And Some Anodized Titanium color.
That should cover what most are asking for.
Still open for suggestions.

What alloy did you go with?
If Anodized the "As-tumbled" finish usually goes away when they etch the product, I'll request non etching on a couple and see how that goes.
6061-T6 Is the alloy used.
Finished forty of them this weekend.
Mailed today, the Anodizer should have them tomorrow, hopefully they will turn them around fast (usually do)
20 Glass beaded and Titanium color ano requested
(Hardway, used your SS TG for color sample, as soon as I get it back I'll ship it to you, along with your aluminum)
10 Glass beaded and Black ano
5 tumble finished Black ano
6 tumble finished Titanium ano
All Hard Anodize.
Seems most wanted to keep the original color
Thanks Willie. I sent you an email. Let me know if you did'nt get it. I'll take 3 as soon as there in and return the prototype.
Can you post pics of them once they are anodized.

THANK GOD! Now I'll be able to hump it up that mountain easier! Plus my wallet will be lighter now that that $50 bill is out of there!

Ha! Smart azz comments don't carry much weight!
Looking forward to seeing the results from the work mentioned.

Will do, as soon as they arrive.
Been having some bizarre whether the last few days, Snow, wind, RAIN! Flooding! been hard for folks to get to work, so their turn around might be a little slower than normal.
Update: Received call from anodizer Wednesday, He said the trigger guards should ship back to me Thursday or Friday, I'm hoping they get here today.
Next problem is, It's still Raining, And they are calling for more severe flooding than we had last week, If so the mail can't get to my shop when flooded, neither can I.
This flooding is supposed to continue through Wednesday.
I hope not.
I'll keep you posted.
Was wondering if you had any left?
Was wondering if you had any left?
Yes, they are not all spoken for yet.
Just got off the phone with my Anodizer, He assured me that they will ship tomorrow, (Tuesday) I will have them Wednesday.
Normally, I would be a bit miffed at the time it has taken them to get to my parts, but we have had some poor weather lately, there has been a couple of days I couldn't get to the shop and they are in the same vicinity.
It has taken longer to get them Anodized than to machine them.
Was wondering if you had any left?
Yes, they are not all spoken for yet.
Well then I guess I better get my name on one. I'll shoot you a pm.
Well!,...They finally arrived!!!!I will ship to those that have paid, tomorrow and I will get some pics up as well.
Thanks to all for your patience.
Those look great... I kinda' might need one.
CVMW,
I'm guessing the one on the far right (tumble finished) most closely matches the stainless on a Kimber Montana vice the second from left (glass beaded)? Seems pretty clearly to be the case looking at the picture, just never know when a picture doesn't quite match reality.
Left is Tumble finished, center is the original Stainless, Right is Glass bead.
The difference in appearance to the original can go either way, IMO.
I guess it depends on what appeals to you the most.
I received my tumble-finished titanium trigger guard today. The finish and the workmanship are first-class.
Willie, (our "CVMW" on the campfire) does beautiful work.
Does the tumble finish match the stainless of the Montana? (if you have a Montana)

you know for $/oz of weight savings, I'm guessing its probably fairly well priced. What does it cost to have a bolt fluted and drilled? And what does that save? How about a McMillian edge?
Lots of ppl out there that would be happy to drop around $500 to save 1.25lbs
Glad to see they are selling well and are a nice product.
PRM,
The tumble-finish titanium is a very, very close match to the Kimber Montana stainless finish. I am very pleased.
Does the tumble finish match the stainless of the Montana? (if you have a Montana)
It is very close.
I agree on the "tumble finish". Especially since they are on the botton of the rifle and not attached to the barreled action like scope mounts would be....even if they were it would still be very tough to tell. Very nice work Willie.
Received and installed mine....great work Willie!
My Montana 338 Federal with Talley XL s and Leupold 2.5x compact comes in at 5lbs 4oz......
Just got mine as well. Very impressive Willie.
Very happy with mine. Came today and I installed it. Perfect fit, looks great. Also have a variety of loads to play with.

"Still open for suggestions."
Can you make them a different shape?
Depends,...What shape are you desiring?.....And will it appeal to others?
I like that Blackburn shape. I think many others do too.

I'd go for that shape. The OEM trigger bow lacks elegance of any kind.

That's a Kimber that I kind of like the looks of. Doesn't Huntsman have one painted in a similar manner?
Dober
Yep, Hunstman's is all tan with heavier black webbing, I believe.
The OEM bow looks too much like a military mauser bow! Too square!

Very busy right now, but if we can get more than a couple to show a little interest in this shape, I will be glad to make a few.
Willie, ignore 22WRF. He has nothing constructive to add.

I'd like the Blackburn-style is in Stainless Steel please... I'll take two.
Brad, do you mean Stainless colored aluminum?
Brad, do you mean Stainless colored aluminum?
No, stainless steel.

It would appear that you are the one that should be ignored for being a fruitcake. I am the one that posted the photo of the blackburn type guard, and I bet there alot of folks that would like that shape if they knew it was available for the Montana and that it would fit right in. I know I would buy one.
Tanner, here I thought I would post a photo of you.
Sorry Brad, Tooling cost and machine time would make it very cost prohibitive. I would have to sell several hundred to keep the cost at what most are willing to pay.
Willie, that's too bad.
The aluminum is just too thick for my taste. You do GREAT work though!
I'd think there would be a market for a classy, all-steel aftermarket trigger bow for the Kimber's...
Thanks.
Nice, did you make that for me? Must be nice to stay home and bake instead of work. I'll send you an apron.
That glass bead unit sure has my attention!
f any of you guys who are changing your stainless TG's for aluminum I would be interested in buying a nice stainless TG to fit a new 84L Montana. The trigger guard on new Montana's looks like hell. It actually has a coat of paint on it, and it looks almost white. I am an old corps guy, and I like the stainless steel better than the aluminum. I went round and around with Kimber trying to order a ss tg. They claim they got rid of all their SS Montana Tg's. I bought an 84L online thinking it would have a stainless tg's like my older Montana's. Keep me in mind if you have a nice SS tg.

cvmw is still around. Maybe he'll do another run for us Kimber lovers, but in titanium this time . . . ?
I know this post is a couple months old, sorry I've been busy and not getting on here much.
I just finished a batch, and removed some more material to lighten up a bit more.
I will be sending them to anodize Monday April 8
They should be back before the end of the month.
Titanium is actually heavier than aluminum, aluminum weighs 1/3 that of steel and titanium weighs 1/2 that of steel and cost considerably more than aluminum.
Going to have some matte black available?
How much for a titanium trigger guard and are you the titanium bolt builder by chance? Would love one for my Montana

They are actually Aluminum Which is lighter than Titanium, These weigh in at 0.86 oz / 24.4 grams. I ask $50.00 Shipped.
No I am not the titanium bolt builder, Sorry, I believe he is in Alaska, I've seen his posts on here but it has been a while
Trigger guards are back from anodize.
I will post pics as soon as I have time.
I ordered two several years ago. I am very critical of quality, shaping, finish, etc. Willie’s bows are very well done.
I don’t have a single criticism, not one.
