That looks like an interesting website. I hope their stuff takes off...we kneed more Tikka support.

I found a guy that sells real nice aluminum bolt shrouds for half the price. I've bought several.
Bought one HERE last year or so and recommend them wholeheartedly.

Nice people to deal with as well. WHen I get a chance I will post a picture of that shroud on my T3
eBay has them as well
This one is also well made, SS. Price is about the same as the ones on KRG/Hinterland.

For those of you who've replaced their bolt shroud, has it changed the feel/function of the bolt any? I replaced my plastic shroud with a HSS shroud and now the bolt handle is more difficult to lift/cock. Another shroud maker mentioned they had problems with this, so I'm wondering if this is typical for after-market shrouds, or just this one, or just my gun.

Thanks!

I may be that other "shroud maker" you are reffering to. We did have some issues with the first batch of shrouds and had to make some adjustments. One observation: The factory plastic shroud DOES causes the bolt to become a bit hard to lift also. Being plastic, it may give and flex a bit when pressured against the firing pin in the "fired" position and that is why it may feel a bit softer. But I bet you there is not really that much of a difference in terms of effort. Since you normally replace the bolt handle with a longer 'tactical style' handle, you would have more leverage anyway and the perceived resistance should be less. If you use a bit of grease on the front groove of your shroud, the cycling should become smoother also.

The factory plastic shroud has little or no friction (when bolt is rotating) on the bolt and the HSS shroud has a much tighter fit to the bolt. A little grease and cycle the bolt handle up and down a couple hundred times will eliminate a bit of the extra force required to rotate the bolt.
No problems here, 'cept trying to find another red one. Don't think Hinterland has anything but black...

I get envy every time you post those pics.
FYI my brother liked my Tikka 7mm-08 so much he bought one.

I read what you said about the best shroud and ordered it and the bolt handle! Thanks
I have tried several and the Glades armory aluminum shrouds are my favorite.......Hb
I've only had my Tikka for a month or so, can someone explain why folks swap these out other than looks?
Durability.......the plastic shrouds will occassionally develop a crack, so spending $50 on a more durable aluminum shroud is a nice inexpensive upgrade for a T3........Hb
Thanks I'll keep that in mind if I have any issues.
