For the 22-250 which twist rate for the heavier bullets 64PP or
60 gr partition 75 A max?

As Kaleb says....

My 1:12 will stabilize 60NP tops.

No factory offers a twist to handle the 75 A-Max.

53gr TSX and the 60gr Hornady work well with factory 1-12".

years ago I had a 224 TTH by Hill Country and still have some 75 A maxes and a bunch of 64PPs I have been kicking around a 22-250 but did not wish to start with a custom build?
Came across a sweet deal on an micro X bolt 22-250
Been all over the spectrum for a new rifle.

The new 55 TTSX won't even stabilize in a 12. Sign of the times, 8 or bust.

You're not supposed to buy before consulting us...

The 64gr PP is a good deer killer.

An 8 twist turns the 22-250 into a whole new animal. I used to run many 14 twists and then one day I pulled my head out my ass. Load development took all of 6 shots for this bullet.

Ok , you got me...I think I even bought a take off barrel from you..The problem I have is new take-offs can be had for 1/10th the price, still shoot 1/2 in. groups, and stuff consistently dies in front of them. So yeah, I'm cheap.... grin

I agree, and tend to use take-offs when they're available in the caliber/contour/length I'm looking for.

I just wish there were a few more quick twist 22 caliber Remington tubes laying around. eek

Yep. Then we could be in the tight twist cool kids club.... grin

On a practical note, there is occasionally a 9 twist SPS tactical take-off barrel up for sale. Though they are 20 inches, the two I've been around both spun the 75 Amax wonderfully (even at SAAMI 223 speed).

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I just bought an older tang safety Ruger 22-250. Were these 1-12 or 1-14?
