I have the opportunity to buy a Heym SR20 in 30-06. Stock is gorgeous figured walnut, with rosewood forend tip, and steel grip cap. Has the straight comb stock, not the monte carlo. It is a safe queen, near flawless. Has a Zeiss 3.5 x 10 Conquest on it. He is asking $2300. Am in love with the rifle, but can't really find any comparisons online to see if the price is decent or not...

That is not a bad price, considering I bought one of those in 7 x 57 back in the mid 1990's and paid around 1800 for the rifle and then some more to put a S+B 6 x 42 mm scope on it. Shot great but I sold it when I paired down my collection some years ago. They are good rifles, thou a bit pricy for what they are. Then again German made things are no matter when you buy them. I shoot a Blaser these days and since I bought it, the prices have gone up quite a bit in the last 7 years or so.

I may be too late to help, but a couple of months ago I bought an SR20 Trophy (like the one you describe, but with octagon barrel, quarter rib, and sights) for $1,500 in the same condition. Put a close-out Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 in Talley QD rings on it and have right at $2,000 in it. I think that would be a fair price, but $2,300 isn't bad.
