Is this the gun you mean?

How much are they?

Are they control round feeding?
Posted By: 47stalker Re: Sauer 101 - 03/16/13
Yes.

They will be around $900 I would say.

No.

Sauer 101 and Mauser M12 are new on the market. Both around $ 1600, push feed, bolt safety, detachable 5 round magazine. Very similar rifles that share some parts (e.g. magazine).

I've ordered a Sauer 101 with open sights and synthetic stock.

These look great, thanks for posting up Melvin24. They are not in the exact caliber I am seeking, but damn close...and I love the bolt safety features they offer over some of the other more contemporary choices out there.

Anyone seen or held one yet?

Better yet, anyone know of a dealer in the US carrying either?

Glad to help.

Not much love for the Sauer here smirk

McMillan offers stocks for the Sauer 202?
Details please!

If I recall, their synthetics are made by McM. I have yet to see them available on their website though.
Posted By: gahuntertom Re: Sauer 101 - 03/20/13
The early 202 in the USA came with McMillian stocks. The bottom is an early 202. Where do you live in Germany? My Daughter married a German & lives in Berlin. I usually spend 3 weeks with them in September or around Christmas.

Melvin,
looking at the tube, they certainly look fine. Great if you want a Sauer without the switch barrel facility.
Claytons in Melbourne have them for around the $2000 - $2200 mark, depending what you want. While it looks like a fine rifle, the synthetic mag certainly is a minus. Compared to its main rival, the Sako 85 - its neck and neck. I may have to have a look at one close up. Very tempting especially if they come in the bigger 30 calibres.

IMO they're too much $$$ at 2+K, for this 'so called' cheaper Sauer cry . I would rather buy a Sako 85 grin

Thx! I live in Hamburg.
A stock like that would be a true upgrade for a 202.

Current synthetic stocks are not made by Mcm - unfortunately, wish they were.

Though the Sako 85 magazine solution is imho the best there is on the market, the Sauer 101 magazines are a big improvement compared to the Sauer 202 magazines.
I don't mind they are made of polymer - durable and one less part to rust.

You might want to email McMillian & see if they would sell you 1.

Done that about 2 minutes ago wink

But actually I intend to sell my 202 in favour of the 101.
Posted By: Hamburg81 Re: Sauer 101 - 03/21/13
Here's what they replied:

"Many years ago Sauer contracted with us to make one hundred sets of the two piece stocks for their 202 rifles.

After this initial purchase they did not buy any more, due to slow sales of this rifle is what we heard. After a couple of years of no sales for these items the molds for these were broken down and the metal components used for other projects as our molds are somewhat expensive, about $8000 or so for a two piece set.

We have no plans to ever remake these molds to offer stocks for these rifles as the volume of potential sales are just not there it justify this tooling expense."

gahuntertom - guess you got a rarity there.

My Sauer 101 Classic XT arrived yesterday.

Don't have a mount yet, range report will follow once it's ready.

Below is the link to a US gun auction site with a Sauer Bolt action sort, there are 2 rifles for sale with the McMillian stock. I own a bunch of guns & have many friends who are gun nuts, my Sauer 202 is the only 1 I have ever seen.

Do you handload?

I emailed McMillan, but they do not offer that stock any more and have no intention of doing so in the future.

No I don't handload.

Anyway, to me the Sauer 101 is superior to the 202 for hunting use. I'm glad I sold my 202 and bought a 101.

Got my Sauer, had open sights added to my specification and the rifle cerakoted.

Shoots fine, all I've tested so far is federal fusion 180 grs though. 1 moa 5 shot group on a rainy, windy day at the range.
