Does anyone have this combo?

I like the model 7 just fine, but I know nothing about the .300 SAUM. I only know it was Remington's answer to the .300 wsm and a less popular one at that.

I like the model 7 for it's balance and fast handle while in the thicker of woods. I have expereince with the 20" version and "light weight" of the smaller calibers.

Can I expect the same from a 22" .300 SAUM?

No .300 SAUM takers....How about 7-08 Model 7 with the 18 1/2" barrel.

The SAUM Model 7s used a heavier magnum contour 22" barrel. It really helps balance the gun and I prefer it over the 20" or 18.5" light contours of the non-magnums. That's not to say I don't like light contours. But the 20" pencil barrels on the non-mags balance like schit on them.

I'd buy it and gun it for a while. I had the same gun but 7mm SAUM with a CDLwalnut stock and it bbalanced and handled wonderfully.

In my opinion if they would have used a 22" light contour barrel on ALL they're Model 7s they'd have had a winner.

Wife owns a youth model. Kills stuff fine.

I never could see a 22" barrel in a Model Seven. It kind of goes against the whole reason the Model Seven was developed for anyway.

I do have a 300shamwow but it's 700ti. I'm liking both rounds and find they are my current goto rifles.

A buddy of mine has the Model 7 in .300 SAUM. It's a heavy little thing relative to it's overall size, but it shoots 165 Accubonds into little tiny groups with stupid regularity. I watched him tip over a Shiras moose with it at around 400 yards as I recall, and he made the whole thing look pretty simple.

Mine was an LS version that didn't shoot worth crap. So i had it rebarreled (stuck with 300 saum) and put it in an edge. It is a great "do everything" rifle.

I and the wife both shoot M7 SS 300 SAUMs. They shoot great balance well and carry easy. I load my own so ammo is not a problem but I see it around in stores and on the web. I would buy again. I also get 3250 fps with Barnes 150 TSX and 3100 with 165's.

My experience is different, perhaps because I'm a shrimp.
I've got a couple of 20" non-mags, love the balance and everything else about them. I also have the SAUM and notice, in a negative way, the difference in weight and balance. I like it, I hunt it, etc., but I could wish...

I have had a Model 7 stainless/synthetic in .300RSAUM for a couple of years and love the damn thing. Initially I restocked it in a Bell&Carlson, but hate the thick wrist on their stocks. I went back to the Remington tupperware stock,bedded it with Dev-con, and bedded an aluminum U channel in the barrel channel to stiffen it up. Although this arrangement is a little heavy, she shoots. With 150gr TSX's 1/2-3/4" groups are no problem. I would love to try an Edge stock, but just can't justify the price.

You should justify the price. Trust me...
