What are your experiences with the Berger 130 grain VLD in Remington .260 Rem factory barrels? Do those bullets exhibit any stability problems with the Rem factory barrels (my understanding is that Rem used 1:9" twist in all of their .260 Rem rifles)?
Berger recommends a 1:8" twist for their 6.5mm 130 gr VLD, but the twist calculator on their website indicates the 130 gr VLD would be in the gray area for stability at modest .260 Rem velocities through a 1:9" twist barrel, so I'm wondering about real-world experiences and what to be looking for stability-wise if I try that combination. Thanks.

I shot 140 VLD's and 142 SMK's in a factory VLS without any issues.
You'll be more than fine with 130's......
I had a Rem LSS "Mountain" rifle that shot the 130 VLDs well over R19. Rifle struggled with any 140gr offerings that I ran through it.... VLDs, Partitions, Accubonds, AMaxes. I say struggled.. It would shoot 1in-1.25in groups with a couple loads. More than adequate for a LW hunting rifle, but I always want a lil more... Grin
It would shoot 120gr BTs and the 130 VLDs well under an inch consistently. I think Rem missed the boat not twisting them a little faster from the factory.
130 Bergers where all over the place out of my 700 using RL15, 123 Amax stacked in nicely. So that's where I settled. I have some RL19, I might have to give the 130's another chance.
I have a custom 9 twist that seems to like them. I haven't spent a whole lot of time with it yet though.
I had issues trying to get 130gr Accubond to shoot a good group. It avg'd 1.5"-2". Once I tried 120 gr BT and they shot a lot better. Then I thought I would try 100 gr TTSX and they went into 1/2"-3/4" groups.
Oh, mine was a 1-9 twist Rem 700.
I shot 200 of them before I gave up. Shot them in three rifles none liked them. All custom hart barrels. all the rifles will shoot heavy a-max into nice little groups. I have some if you would like to try before you buy.
