Never owned a Sako, and just found what I think to be a steal of a deal at a local shop. Sako 85 stainless in a laminated stock. It is chambered in 338 fed, which is probably the reason it is still there.

I have 338 fed brass and dies, so can load for it no problem. Rifle shows no signs of use.

What would this be worth?

Must of come from Savage 99's vault....
Those shoot pretty good, mine liked 210 grain sierra's.

I bought in with the intent of rebarreling it to a 260 remington, but two years later I found a 85 in 260 so I ended up selling that one.

Sako originally dumped those 338 Federals for around $799 bucks around 3-4 years ago, but they never dropped them compleltely.

So it depends upon price, and intent - 338 Federal kicks like an 06, and has just about the same power and drop, which parrallels the 358 win.

If is ~$1,000 bucks it's priced about right, and maybe a bit low.

About $1k or so. What are they asking for it?
Check Gunbroker also

Sakos are one of the best and most accurate.

And you're still at home typing? Beg borrow or steal and go get it!

$650.... Dude. Go buy it and if you do not want it, let us know where it is...
$1000-$1200 would be considered a fair deal.
The action alone costs more than that!

FWIW,

I've heard that the defintion of an exspurt is.......

an "ex" is a has been

and a "spurt" is a drip under pressure.

So I guess I resemble that remark. LOL

With that in mind...........

I've had well over two dozen Sako rifles follow me home.

Only two I've had problems with.

Both were model 85 stainless synthetic rifles chambered in 338 Federal.
I tried everything to get them to group. Never could. Plus IIRC I could not come within 150 fps of published book velocities.

Seems there were a run of Sako 85's when they were first chambered in 338 Federal that the chambers were off. I traded both mine back into the store where I purchased them.

You asked.

My response.

Bullets matter more than headstamps and think COAL.

There's no such thing as a "good deal" on a piece of schit.................

Stick is there a list of action / magazine maximum OAL listed anywhere you know of.

Better get all over that one for that price..cool chambering also...
