Does anyone know if Remington will replace a stock that has started to melt and get sticky or is it better to get one or do a grind to fit?

David,
If you call or email Remington, they'll ask for the serial # on the gun to confirm the pad. They will indeed send you a new pad.

I wish mine would melt off. I take the screws out and they are still firmly attached. What's the favored trick to removing the glue?

I've had good luck removing the screws, slicing off the pad material with a razor, and popping the plate off with a screw driver. I suppose I've been lucky to not bring any stock material with the plate.

I'd mar the wood in short order trying that.
Pitch the handle off a cliff and move on...towards greener pastures.

Trouble is,they don't even make good Fish Knockers...and we don't even get that many fish to Knock.

Limbsaver pad?
If Remington doesn't help, call Limbsaver. They have sent three replacements when Remington ignored me. I like them better than Remington's supercell.

Thanks for the info, calling Remington for the replacement. If I don't like the new one I'll go with a Kick-Ease or similar grind to fit. Just put one on a VLS stock and it turned out nice (had to cut what was left of the old pad off with a sonic tool).
