Who uses the 700 Classic and how many do you have?

I only have four so far:
250 Savage (1984 production)
280 Remington (1997)
300 Savage (2003)
350 Rem Mag (1985)

They all at least get to the range now and then, some get out hunting.

Had a 257 Rbts that I shot quite a bit and now have a 300 savage that I got as a barreled action. It's sitting in an Edge ADL stock now and I'm thinking about chopping 2 or 3" off that 24" barrel.

It will be a shooter.

They are all very fine shooting rifles.

My .264 Win Mag is probably my favorite. Mine are all very accurate.

A 21" tube 300 Savage don't suck.

I'd not mind finding a classic action in 8x57

got a .250 and a .300. they both shoot like a champ and the stock fits me better than anything else i have tried. tackdrivers. i can live with the 24" barrels but its not my favorite

The Classic stock fits me like no other. And I like the satin finish and no cheek piece.

I only have one now, a 221 Fireball

Just one for me 6.5x55 Swede.

I really like this rifle though.

I bought a .25-06 here, worked up a great load for it with 100 TSX's, then sold it.

It was just too pretty to hunt with.

I've been sorely tempted to get one in .300 Savage, but they seem to command some not insignificant $. Now, if such a thing as a .300 Savage Mountain Rifle existed� well, I'd not worry about the coin.

I regretfully passed on a really pristine Classic in 300 Wtby. Mag not too long ago. Still kicking myself!

I did pass on .300 Savage, 8x57JS, and .35 Whelen though I would probably bring .300H&H home if I came across one. Lots of ammo on hand is the reason. As mentioned above stock design is superb considering we're talking mass-produced items.

I have a 25-06 that is a tack driver with 110 grain noslers.

My 6.5x55 700 Classic is a shooter.

I have the 250 Sav and the 300 Sav. I also am very fond of the stock design. The 24" barrels are pleasant to shoot and the balance is very good.

My Classic in 250 Sav is one of the most accurate rifles I own. It would be one of the very last that I would ever part with.

Does the Turkish Mauser I have with a 250 classic barrel on it count? Haven't found a load it won't shoot really really well with.

I thought about the 8x57 and re-chamber to 8mm/06, but that is an awful expensive way to get 30-06 ballistics.

I wish they would keep doing the special runs.

The only one I have is a 350 rem mag, had the barrel bobbed to 20" inches, spruced up the front site with a fiber optic insert, put the walnut away in the closet and put it in an old checkered remmy synthetic stock, and topped it with a Leupold 4x compact. The elk tremble in fear.

What is the color on that stock

I have a .30-06 and a .35 Whelen. The '06 now wears a B&C Alaskan, while the Whelen has a Boyds laminate. The '06 has taken several deer, and the Whelen has taken 3 bears.

I'd like to find a reasonably priced .300 H&H.

I passed on the 8X57 and the .300 Savage. The 8X57 really gave me pause as it was only $500. I would like to get the .250 or the .257R though.

I've had a couple, including a 6.5x55 that was well used but shot very well. I can live with the stock pretty easily and like the clean barrel as well.I'm always on the lookout for another one but there are some pretty fancy prices being asked lately!

The first one I bought was the 264 Win Mg still have and use it. The next was a use one in 7x57 that had a pitted barrel but still shot well, the pitting bugged me so it got traded. A few years back a local gunshop got rid of their retail line with a major sale with huge discounts and I picked up a new in the box 8x57 for $348+ tax, it's a great shooter. The 8's have the stupid j-lock cocking piece, I unlocked mine and tossed the key.. tuned the trigger and it shoots fine. Nothing fancy to it and it was equipped with Weaver bases, low rings and an old Weaver K4. I have more than a few 8mm bullets laying around for it and just haven't used any other than 150 gr Hornady Spire Pts at 2700-2800 fps. Kills deer just like an 06' imagine that? Sad thing is a lot of people bought Classics for donors cause I've seen a lot of take off barrels from them that still looked unfired. Magnum Man

I currently have 17 Rem, 257 Roberts, 7mm 08, and 223.
Sold or traded away 300 WM, '06, 35 Whalen and 221 Fireball. Kind of wish I'd kept them all.

I own four Remington 700 Classics. They are chambered in 25-06, 7mm Weatherby Magnum, 300 Weatherby Magnum and 338 Win Mag. Great rifles.

When they were first introduced I bought one in 30-06 and years later traded it away.

Currently own two.

A .308 that now resides in a McM Hunters Edge ADL with barrel cut to 22.5" and in need of a scope and a .223.

My 300 savage came with a j-lock. A quick visit to Midway's website to order a replacement firing pin/shroud assembly fixed tha little design flaw!

Bought a 35 Whelen when it was first offered years ago. Sold it and later regretted, so when a nice used one showed up recently, I grabbed it. I'd like another one in 250 Sav...

I've got them in 250 and 300 Savage, and I love the way they handle.

I have both a 250 Savage and a 257 Roberts in TI stocks and cut to 22", love em.

Use to have one in 257 Roberts. It was a very nice rifle. I will say however that I now have a early BDL mountain rifle that I like a little better but the classics are a great rifle.

I have the 35 Whelen version...although she has been changed quite a bit.

I still have my 25-06 that I bought new in 1993. Shoots great (sub 3/4" groups), and handles and looks good too. It's still in the rotation for my deer hunts, and has taken it's fair share of bucks. Doubt if I'll ever let it go.

Darn nice looking stock on that one, what a beauty.

35 Whelen and 375 H&H. The 375 is a bit.... light with full power loads.

270 Win. bought in '81 or '82....still my go-to gun for PA and NY whitetails. Also, lucked upon NIB Swift, Bob and Swede's a few years ago....still have the Swede.

I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a 6.5x55 when I had the chance. The Whelen is crazy accurate.

I love my .264 Win Mag that I have had since 1986. It has really been my only rifle since that date (though I picked up a 243 this year for grins) and has been through hell and back. Very well balanced rifle and nimble for a magnum contour barrel. I've taken well over a hundred deer with her and she zaps them with distinct authority!

I only have two Classics, 30-06 & 243. Both have excellent accuracy & I love the stock configuration.

Pretty much mirrors my situation. The .250 was pillar bedded and had a rosewood fore end tip and grip cap added. The .300 lost its j-lock and has been bedded and floated. Both are way more accurate than they have a right to be. Here's the .250 with its 6x42 Leupold:

While I've had other 700 Classics, I'm down to only two now. These two are a 264WM I bought new in 1986, and a 257 Roberts rechambered to 257AI, I bought from a friend years ago. These two are the two most accurate factory sporters I have ever owned. The 264WM will NEVER leave my possession! It is stunningly accurate! The 257AI is my truck gun for when I go out to the farm. It will lay low any pesky critters with ease. It, however, has been showing a decrease in accuracy lately, probably from shooting way over max loads, and I may get it rebarreled someday. Regards.

My 250 and 300 have been bedded, floated, and trigger tuned. They are both quite accurate with several different handloads.

I'd really like to nail a big buck with the 250 to see what the magnum shooters at the camp have to say.

There is a 700 classic in 300 H&H for sale in classified ads!!

what surprises me is how well my .250 classic shoots right out of the box, no bedding or floating at all.

In original condition my 300 shot very well with several loads, so I didn't alter it right away. But now that it's tuned it shoots almost anything well, and with its best loads it gives my heavy 308's a run.

I gave a 7mag to a now ex=SIL some years ago. Friendly divorce, so I still see him occasionally. He still shoots it for everything, Coyotes to Elk.

Have a 25-06 that was the first rifle I ever bought. It is a shooter and has killed a ton of deer. My 280 has been altered quite a bit but started out as a classic. Sold a .222 that I kick myself over. I would like to find a .257 and a .250 someday. Never owned either caliber and a classic is about my definition of the perfect all around rifle.

Steve, yep, those are the two I have. I've been selling a lot of other stuff off, but those two are staying put.

Have the 220 Swift and 25-06. Two of the most accurate out of the box factory rifles I've ever owned. Great rifles!

Only one...8x57. Love it. Probably been the least fussy bolt rifle I've ever owned.

I shot a lot of elk with my classic .35 Whelen. Sold it after it didn't have anything more to teach me.

I looked at the pictures of the collection of Classics which are for sale. A few seem a little questionable to me. For example picture 19 does not seem to be NIB condition. Several do not seem to have the satin finish. I've owned a few and do not remember these discrepancies.

The only one I have left is a .220 Swift. This is the only Swift I've ever owned and have no plans to get rid of it.

As a personal thing I no longer think of them as a Classic if they are changed out of the factory stock or have the barrel shortened. To each his own.

I had a 243 that was a real tack driver and foolishly traded it off. Bought a 257 when they came out in '82. It just seemed like too much rifle for a sweet little 257 (long action and 24" barrel). I sold it without ever shooting it Wish I'd have bought a 280 when they came out.

The earlier Classics had a polished blue finish.

Had a slew of them at one time but am down to the .243 and .220 Swift.
