We have a lot of talk about low recoiling rifles for young shooters or for those that don't like recoil. What about rifles that have a quite report? What chambering has low recoil and low muzzle blast? Barrel length?
Low pressure + low bullet weight, in my experience.

7-30 Waters, 7x57 factory stuff, .300 Savage loaded for Savage 99, etc.

I haven't experimented with barrel length much, but I'd expect that staying above 21" to 22" would be a good rule o' thumb.

The best round for starting young hunters I have found is the 300 Blackout.. I keep young hunters to shots under 200 yds and under 100 is ideal. The 300 BKout will kill reliably at those distances loaded with a 125 grain SST or Btip. My 13 year old niece hunts with both a 300 BK and a TC G2 contender carbine in 7-30 Waters and it has a lot of muzzleblast. I have given both of my nieces AAC Micro 7 300 Blackout rifles. The oldest niece killed 2 deer with hers last year.
If you handload, that could be just about any rifle caliber ( within reason, not an elephant gun) and any firearm you desire..
