Good day.

I need high rings for one of my 77s and can get Warne Maxima or Leupold rings for a decent price. Should I rather order a set of Ruger rings or is it worth going with any of the other two? Any pros or cons?

Thanks

Not easy to get Talley in South-Africa. I had to import them in the past. The others I mentioned is currently available.

Talley does not make rings for the M77's.
I like Warne rings on the kickers, they are solid and don't budge. Not the lightest option but they're solid and they work. Not sure which Luepold rings your looking. The Duel Dovetail are solid, but you probably can't use those unless you have an older receiver without the integral mounts.
I have used Ruger, Burris, Leupold and Warne on my Rugers. Anything is better than the Ruger factory rings. I think the Warnes are probably the most solid. I have Leupolds on my 338 Win mag, and they haven't let me down either though.
Here are medium Warnes with a 40mm objective. Lots of room underneath, are you sure you need "highs"?

Pieter,

FWIW- I mounted up two scopes in Warne QD Maxima rings for my .375 Ruger Hawkeye African. I ended up taking them off, because trying to get good groups was a problem. Loads that had been giving great accuracy with the Ruger rings were opening up to unacceptable (to me) results.
I attribute this to the fact that Warne had to adapt their otherwise great rings to the Ruger integral base, and use a small, half-moon, loose key to secure the rings. The system may work just great for lesser-recoiling cartridges, but I ended up going back to the time-tested Ruger rings. If you really need the quick-detach capability, just carry a quarter in your pocket while hunting, unscrew two large screws, and your irons are in business.

If you want to try Warne Maximas, I have two sets of Medium rings, very lightly used, that I will sell at a good price, PM me if interested.
They make them for Rugers without the detach levers. Mine are the fixed style, and don't move.
I'd choose the Leupie rings for the Ruger. They are a nice svelte setup that works.

Ruger rings always work fine too.
