On the hunt for a synthetic stock that fits an early model Remington Model 7 Short action rifle with the 18 1/2" barrel.
I want to get it camo dipped and give it to my son as a gift.
Does anyone have one that is collecting dust in the closet???
I don't know how handy you are but You could use a take off M700 SPS stock. It will not drop in but if you can bed a rifle you can make it work very well. they are 27 oz.before pillars and bedding. Mine came out at 28 oz when finished , cost $5.00 , stock was given to me.

Oh , by the way Beardy I do have the original syn. stock that I would probably part with for a reasonable price if you are interested. PM me if you are. It is heavy 38 oz and most of the weight is in the rear of the stock which in my opinion hurts the pointing of a M7.
Please describe the process of converting the stock to a Seven.
Thanks Jeeper - I was wondering if a 700 stock could be utilized. Not sure how comfortable I am though with a conversion like you mentioned.
Factory M7 Stocks are little pigs for what they are and sure does run a nice little rifle in a hurry with how they balance.

I lucked in to a Brown FS stock for my Model 7 last year and it made a night and day difference.

Use rear hole and cut out for bolt. Create new front bolt hole using dremel and then placing some thin AL. tubing fitted to contour of receiver as front pillar. Drill out rear hole to accept pillar and use bedding compound to get this set-up. There will be some Dremeling to be done in magazine and floorplate area. I then come back and do the bedding for the receiver and first inch or so of barrel on second bedding job. Finished stock weighed 28oz then painted with Krylon brought it up to about 29 0z and good balance point.
Here is a replacement stock option:

I put a B&C medalist stock on my sons .243 this past spring. It's black spiderweb not camo but it looks pretty cool.I feel it's a step up from the flimsy junk they put on.
