Awesome!!!

Thanks for the post!

DMc
That is great. Hadn't seen any posts from you lately HB maybe I just missed them
Not been spending as much time on the fire of late, seems like I spend more of My time on crossbowtalk.com than anywhere else lately.............Hb
Where did you find this info? I couldn't find it on their website....

Glad to hear it though!
Great news I been waiting to get a 308 win.
I rechecked the calibers offered and .260 Rem and .300 Wsm are also listed........I can see a .223 and a .300 WSM in My future...........Hb

It wont be on the Remington site till after the SHOT show.......A buddy of mine has a sporting goods store and this time of year we always check what new guns are comming in the new year from distributors like Ellot and others........The lists have never let us down.......Hb
Another member just filled me in on one supplier...thanks!

looks like they'll have 20 inch barrels???
Also a new lower price point shotgun called the V3 but not much info other than only in 12 ga and 26" or 28" barrels in a couple basic models....just a guess on My part but I say it's a cheaper 3"version of the Versa-Max...........Hb
Another interesting shotgun is a new version of the Winchester SX3 called the "Longbeard"............I will be interested to see if this may be a 24" barrel 3.5" turkey slayer, I hope it has a vent rib and not those damn ugly rifle sights!.........Hb
Any mention of twist on the 223 offering?

I'm sure it will be 1-9".
Hope they do it right and put the quality in them that the original ones had. Always wanted one in 308, but 300wsm could be a candidate also.

Not so sure about that. The sporter 700s still have 1:12. Only the tactical offerings have 1:9
Well, we can hope. Remember this is today's Remington....

Nope, no mention of twist rate.............Hb
Wonder how long before they are in stores?
I was guessing spring
I sure hope they put it in a 9 twist 223. That will get me to buy another one.
make mine a 260 hold the fries..
Ever notice how out of the blue -bam model sevens pop up then none for weeks on end it seems.
A 308 and 260 both stainless popped up within days and I bought them both -both shoot great .
I have a hankering for a 243 ---i do .
Might have to have me a 308.
I bought my son one in .308 many years ago, put it in an HS Precision stock and that little sucker is a tack driver. He likes hunting from a climbing stand and it is absolutely perfect for that.
Boy I would like one in 308 with 18 1/2 inch barrel. Good for walking through the brushy mountains here. Weight and length are a big drawback here.
Can't wait until I get one in 308
If they put a little more beef in the barrel and use a stock with some integrity as to being a good foundation and not putting side pressure on the barrel and they will have something that isn't project rifle.
I liked the older ones with wood stocks.
Any idea if Remington is going to be using the same synthetic stock that weighed like 40 oz and made the rifle in factory form the most ass-heavy and unbalanced rifle of all-time?
Doesn't look like it. Current pictures of the model 7 on their site show a different plastic stock

If there was ever a crappier rifle than the SS M7, I'm not aware what it could be.

Had one in 308... it was a genuine 6" grouper and Remington, after two trips back to the factory, couldn't get it to shoot either. To their credit, they cut me a full refund check.

Of the many 308's I've had, it's the only one that wouldn't shoot.

The Model 7, in wood or plastic, is an unbalanced mess IMO. Too muzzle light, thin pencil barrel. It's often marketed as a youth/woman's rifle, but I can't imagine a worse beginning rife for either.

I really don't think it does anything well for any category one cares to name.

Rant off grin

There is hope, they brought the 260 back with an 8 twist SPS but then again, this is Remington.

Edit: watch them drop the 8 twist SPS 260 and give ya'll a 9 twist 260 Model 7 laugh
Winchester is bringing out an 1885 chambered in 17 WSM
The only 7 to interest me was a 7 Saum. I put it in a McM Edge Classic with DNZ mounts and a 6x42 with an M1. At 7lbs 2oz with that package, it's tough to beat.

Same barrel contour as a MR, just 2" shorter. If you ever had an FS or KS version, then you'd probably like the balance much, much better. Quite similar to a Montana actually, only more between-the-hands feel.
I wish they'd offer it in .338 Fed! I'd be all over that one!

Had one of the originals that came out the same year as Remington made the 260 a factory offering. Wouldn't shoot and was absolutely an "unbalanced mess".

If Rem does indeed get a 700 with a properly twisted 260 barrel in a Mountain Rifle or KS, I would give them another chance as this offering would indicate to me that they have seen the error of their ways.

Otherwise, I will just keep building proper rifles using their (corrected through truing) 700 action and skip the headaches associated with their current offerings.
I've had three of the first year 260s from 1997--all three have shot 1" or less, most easily with 120 grain BTips.
They should offer the .358, and leave the .338 to wither. wink

I've been hoping for Remington to fix QC since the early 90's. Hope the move helps.
350 Remington mag would also be nice

I had a 350 in a M7, and it had problems feeding the second round. Nice to carry, not a pure pleasure to shoot.

Had one in a 350 mag also........definitely a hard hitter on the shoulder.
A simple stock change to the m7 and its a serious contender.
yep. mebbe Remington addressed that this time around.

I owned a 18.5" wood stocked 7-08 back in the 90's, it was a tough one load for, I finally found 150 BT's worked well.

The Mountain Rifle felt so much better but it does not make sense that an additional 2" of barrel (probably 2 ounces) on the front end and a little more weight behind the action screw would make a difference.

My Model 7 went from a so so rifle because of the crap factory plastic to a wonderful little gem dropped in a Brown FS. Can't say how much I love that little rifle now and talk about a dream to carry through the woods.

I used it this past Nov in MN to take this buck on a bitter cold morning while still hunting.

Next to a Mtn. Guide - same caliber (7mm-08). I love that Mtn. Guide as well, but if forced to choose the Mtn. Guide would go and the Model 7 would stay.

From what I understand the early 7KS would feed factory 200s just fine but not reloads. I have a later one and it feeds everything 100%.

As to recoil...never notice it when hunting and just try staying off the bench once it is sighted in. Wrapped up in a sling sitting it is no worse than a .308...

This is great news on the comback to the SS M7. On the way home from the range yesterday I was just thinking what DumbA$$s Remington was to discontinue that version. I have two .308s and had a .260 that I never fired as someone wanted a lot more than me so I sold it.

A SS .350 RM is my dream rifle. The Custom shop made two 7KS in stainless...I saw one of them sell on GunBroker for $2650.00...

Bob
A guy I work with also had trouble with feeding issues with his 350 rem.mag
What will they sell for?
They are also bringing back the blued Seven LS with the brown laminated stock.
Any offical info on this yet?
I picked up a Model 7 SS in 260 and dropped it into a Model 7 laminated stock. I really like the ss and wood look and of course the wood stock is a much better platform than those crappy plastic stocks! I want to do some load development for the rifle over the winter and get it out to the range this spring. Going to try 120 grain TTSX and see how they group for me.

It isn't on their site yet. But, the rifle is in the 2015 catalog which is on the site. .223, .243, .260, 7mm-08, .308, and .300 WSM
Looks like msrp is the same as the stainless sps so should be around $650 street price.
I would guess the recoil in 300WSM will be severe in this model.

Jim
I'm assuming most of the negative feedback about these little gems is that you have one less hole for a Talley mount, and a Tupperware stock? I have owned no less than 5 blued and stainless. I currently have 3 chambered in .260 and if I do my part they all go MOA. Considering what they are and what their intended use is they are hard to beat. I already told my FFL to bring in another .260 and a .223 for me. Wonder if the 9 twist .223 would handle being improved to push 75's...hhmm?
I sure hope that the 223 is really a 9 twist as listed, but they have messed that up before also (e.g. the Predator version).
I hope that Remington has the quality control issues corrected. I love the Model 7 and have two rifles built on the Model 7 action. Both started life as a 308. Now, one is a 338 Fed and the other is a 260. The front of both actions looked like they had been cut with a chop saw. The bolt faces scrubbed on the back of the barrels and the ends of the bolt lugs rubbed on the action walls. They were a mess and would only shoot what I would consider to be an improved cylinder pattern. It is just a shame that it took so much work to get them shooting like they should.

I know that others have had better experiences with the Model 7 and the problems I had with mine could have been just the luck of the draw. I didn't buy them for what they were, though. I bought them for what I wanted them to be and would do it again in a second. I think one in 223 Remington would fill my last Remington Model 7 niche. Well...maybe one in 35 Remington would be a good addition too.

The newer Model 7s had 2 rear screw holes, just the early ones only had 1.
That's what cracks me up about the ridiculous prices people pay for some of the discontinued model guns made by Remington, Marlin, and several others. There's nothing to stop the manufacturer from resuming production tomorrow on any of them.

really? what about the Pre 64s?
Those would be different, as the Winchester that made those no longer currently exists, and is very unlikely to ever exist again. Last I heard, all current "Winchesters" are now made by Browning, and manufactured in Japan. A Japanese Winchester (especially a Model 94} is blatant blasphemy.
and the Marlin you mentioned? they are not the Marlin of old.
From what I've heard, the only complaints about the new Rem-Lins involved quality control issues when they started production at the new plant. Everything I've heard about recent production guns are that those issues have been resolved, and that the quality is now as good as it ever was. As long as they continue that, then in another year, or two, people will have forgotten all about the early QC issues, and will not care whether the barrel is stamped "JM", or "REM". The reason "JM" guns currently command a premium is because of that perception.
Anyone seen any in stores yet? I can't find any around
I called Remington recently and the guy said they have no scheduled manufactering runs of the new Model Seven SS in the first quarter of the year, he said call back in late March and he would know more........Hb

I spoke with a sales rep from Zanders (wholeseller) yesterday, they still do not have them in stock, but have been accepting backorders.

I've got a 308 backordered; kinda wish I'd gone 7mm-08.

That takes them out of consideration for me.
Not me, 20" barrel is what I want........Hb
So long as the 223 stainless is 9 twist, it'll work for me.
Anyone heard when these will be available?
