I'm considering doing the same with a 243 version. But, the boy is only 2. I'm a lefty, and not sure what he will end up. If I got a compact, I'd go the extra $50 and order a standard stock as well.

I have about 260 rounds I'd like to throw through it next weekend or the one after. I'm looking forward to it.

I just mounted a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 on it, that I had laying around. It's a perfect scope for this gun.

In all truthfulness, it's pretty short for me but both of my kids should be able to use it for a few years the way it sits.

The more I handle it the more I like it. Cool little rifle.

He likes it! His biggest worry is if it's loud. Of course I can't hear anything from years of construction and shooting with out enough hearing protection.

It didn't seem very short, but once I mounted the scope on it, it's pretty dang short!
