My Dad picked up this Mauser action Sako back in the early 80s, lightly used. Its a 30-06 and was the first rifle i used extensively in the field. good shooter. Never could exactly figure out what it was, what model. Anyone help figure it out?
Yeah I thought I had a few more but they turned out to be of my old Ruger M77. Sorry.
It's the highly sought after Sako 10/33!!
Does it have a horse head on the top of the barrel, in front of the action?
I have one just like it. This is the long action rifle they built prior to the l61r during the 1950s. Think they called them the Sako hi power.
The recoil lug looks a little different than most of the Sako's I've seen from that era.
They built a few guns with FN mauser actions, I think they had round tops, looks like yours has a round top front bridge, post some more pics and someone will nail it for you.
I have a 264 that has a horse head stamped where the chambering should be. The 264 is on the side. Do not know if the barrel is original.
