Picked up Fixed!

Purchased a new in the box LH Ruger Hawkeye in 7mm o8 about two months ago when I heard Ruger had phased out the production of Left hand hawkeyes for 2015. The 7mmo8 had been on my short list for a while and knew I had to get one before they were not available any longer. When my rifle came in about a month ago I noticed that the muzzle had been damaged during shipping from the wholesale supplier to my FFL. It appeared that the barrel had gone through the box at some point and obviously hit something hard enough to leave a gouge down to bare metal. I also noticed that the stock finish was definitely subpar. I am used to Walnut Ruger’s not having much figure but this one had a terrible stain and finish job. Almost orange where the stain took, but washed out in other areas. To add insult to the poor finish there were visible runs in several places. It actually looked more like Birch than Walnut to me. I knew the rifle had to go back to have the muzzle fixed but thought I was stuck with a stock that I would end up refinishing on my own.

I received a call the other day from my FFL saying that my Hawkeye was back from Ruger. I picked it up today and found the muzzle ding….which I do not think was even Rugers fault was fixed to the point I could not tell it ever happened. That of course made me happy, but I was overjoyed when I saw that my bland and horribly finished stock had either been replaced or refinished. Whichever they did I am very pleased with the result. I have to commend Rugers service department for a job well done. I think they went above the call of what I would consider their responsibility and gave me a rifle that I will cherish for a lifetime. It these days of crappy customer service I am happy to see that Ruger as an American company still makes their products in the USA, and more importantly still stands behind what they make. A job well done. My thanks to them.
They have always had excellent service. Lot of other companies should take notes

I have had great experiences with Ruger's customer service as well.

I was putting the box away and found a receipt inside stating what was done. They fixed the muzzle crown. Reblued the barreled action. And actually replaced the stock. Can't wait to shoot it smile

Happy ending.

Some others might have tried to put that off on the express company, leaving you with a big hassle Compared to some of the nightmare scenarios that have been related here about other companies' CS, you were fortunate.

Good on Ruger for their customer service, and thanks for posting.

For a number of suppliers in the gun and gun related business, CS stands for Customer Screwed!

I had a laminate stock that was cracked and they replaced it without an issue.

Buy through Davidson's and as soon as you take the gun back to the dealer with an issue, they send out a replacement
