Any ideas on a peep sight for this generation? I see the No4 has a good option but not sure mine does. Just checking to see if anybody has or what the best sight options are for these guys.
Not receiver mounted but these are a definite upgrade from the standard open rear and pop right in, no need to alter the rifle.

Parker-Hale made a receiver sight that bolted onto the No.1 MkIII, on the left rear of the receiver utilizing existing screw holes, over top of the safety. I can't remember the model number, but a google search should divulge more info. I had one many moons ago, and it worked a treat. I see them pop up from time to time on the UK eBay.

They have a forum specifically for Lee Enfields.

And another place all about aperture sights and the SMLE.

Yeah, that's the one I had. The P-H 5A. The trick is in finding one!
These come up for auction on a semi regular basis here in NZ

Willams makes a 5D and Foolproof series receiver sight to fit. Not as classy as a P-H 5 or an old steel Lyman but they do the job, pretty reasonably priced as well.

I used a Lyman which is actually made for a 22 and it works very well. Nicely positioned, compact, and effective. I also milled the front dovetail to 3/8 and installed a Sourdough front. GD

What model of Lyman did you use?
I believe mine is a 66. I bought it from Brownells about 20 years ago but I don't see it in the catalog today. It's getting to where, if it doesn't glow in the dark or say "tactical" on it, Brownells doesn't sell it. GD
