At first glance, I'd guess AWR?

Never heard of it.

Do ypu have any darker pics?
Thanks.

It sure looks like a earlier KS, they did build lefties so it could be one. And depending on how old it is, its either a Brown Precision, McMillan. Early 1990's where Brown, not sure when they changed to McMillan, both great stocks though.

Of my COCK?
Yes.

Now I understand the handicapped part.
After digging around a bit, the AWR wasn't offered in 35 Whelen. I agree with others who said it looks like a KS, which was offered with a misplaced bolt handle in 35 Whelen.
Now I understand the handicapped part.
Elephantiasis is a bitch.
For her.

The S/N looks like C6677XXX
Doesn't that mean 2008ish?
Travis
Yep. C would be a 2008 vintage.

I'm pretty sure the "C" prefix actions are from about 1990 to 1994 maybe or there abouts. If you want to know when the rifle was built look at the barrel for the code, there should be 2 stamped letters just in front of the lug. That will be the month and year built. Some say the "C" prefix where some of the best?? My KS .280 is a "C" and its from Sept 1992, hope that helps.
In front of the lug reads LN.

I believe that would place it in February of '93.
I think so too. I think the stock is a Brown.
Was thinking it would be a nice loaner if I had a handicapped visitor. But now I'm thinking it needs to leave my dwelling.
Travis
Errr... I think that is not a Remington. It looks like a Spyderco, or a cheap imitation, with the pocket clip installed improperly (upside down).
Ohh. You mean the rifle. Yes! KS with BP stock. Good grab and perfect for elk in the timber.
What happens if the elk step outside of timber?
Won't fire 22-250's. Already tried.

Never thought of that. Conundrum, that is. Mebe try a 7-ought-8?
Why do you care...you aint a lefty RU? powdr
As some have already said, it's most likely a model 700 KS (Kevlar stock ) mountain rifle. It was only chambered in 35 Whelan with that particular grey stock in 1989. So the barrel code should indicate it was made sometime in 1989
Its not a standard rifle - those particular rifles were made by the Remington Custom shop.
They are also simply chambering stamped on the barrel. No Remington Arms, Ilion, NY, etc

My brother is. I'm gonna gouge him.

I sent an e-mail to Remington. I'll see what they say.

You musta seen them before because that is exactly how this one is marked.

Pretty light:
Dave
I just sold one in a 300Win Mag; it's a KS Mountain Rifle that came from the Custom Shop. It was an early version with a satin blue finish and jeweled bolt.
Mine, well now Alan's weighed right at 7lbs for the bare rifle. It was made in 1986 with a Brown Precision Stock.
Nice rifle.
Weight on mine with 3-9x40 Leupold is 7LB even.
In front of the lug reads LN.

Remington agrees with you.
Thanks again.

I'm glad they see it my way.
Also, it was a regular production rifle.
Travis
Dude, reading through this thread reminded me, Im about to put a .22-250 on the market...it would go well with your elk bullets for for next hunt .

Travis
So yours isn't a KS?

Only if I bring the right bullets.

It is "A Custom Mountain Rifle but did not come from our Remington Custom Shop. It was a regular production KS."
That's what they just told me.
Travis
I thought all KS guns came from the Custom Shop.
So did I.
But I'm thinking if you call three times you may get three different answers on that one.
There was however a consensus on when it was built and that is 1993.

Don't screw up a good thing, man. You might have the ONLY "regular production" KS on the planet. Get some drone at Remington to email you a "certificate of authenticity" and you'll be rich. Rich, I tell ya.
Yeah. Maybe he's new there?
Anyway. Guess I'll start gouging now that I know what it is.
Thanks fellas.
Travis
I'm bettin' ol Clarke don't screw up tooo much, so he probly payed SPS price. He can gfh for that.
I'm going to identify it as a dandy. I need less detailed pics however to confirm...
If some of the Ruger boat paddles can bring a couple grand on GB, I hesitate to imagine what this one-of-one "custom" Model 700 rifle that didn't come from the Custom Shop will bring. All you need are at least two window-lickers with more money than brains to make it happen.
So did I.

Lurker...........
I do miss that old 280 KS I sold your brother and like I said to you recently, I'd like a shot at it if it comes up for sale. That'd be a pretty cool to get that one back! IIRC I still have the paper work fro when I bought it in 1993. $829 was the price I paid then.
I know you have said it has been a good gun for your bro.
