For those of you that have used both brands.
Talley Lightweights or DNZ Game Reaper / Huntmasters
Which do you prefer and WHY ?

Thanks

I know it's not on your list, but I've gone to Warnes on my tikkas.. Yeah, they're a little heavier, but they're lower and bomb proof.
Just remember to replace your ring screws every 500 shots.

Yea they look very sturdy, and I bet they are great rings.
According to the charts on the sites though They aren,t lower.

The Warne shows .460 for Mediums which is their lowest
The DNZ Lows are .440 for the lows
The Talleys low are .500 but the extra Lows are .400 according to guy I talked with at Talley.

I have DNZ on a couple of Tikkas - they're the bomb. Talleys are no doubt as good. Pick one and be happy.....
If you get 16Bores milled Talleys they will sit even lower.

I'm running the modified Talleys on my .308 SL with a Leupold 6x36 and the stock rings (which are ugly but have given me ZERO problems) on my .223 SL with a Bushnell 10x Elite.

As others have noted, I think anything will work (especially on the non-magnums) but the stock clampers and screws do look Walmart-y....

Are you talking about the Modified Lows or the Modified extra Lows?

bcraig,

I used Warnes on my first Tikka and then went to DNZ. Never used Talleys on a T3, but if I did I'd get a hold of 16Bore.

The DNZ 1-pc never gave me any issues on 223, 270, and two 300 Mags but if I were to do it all over again I'd go back to the Warnes as Rancho Loco suggested.

Why?

They allow some flexibility in ring spacing. And the recoil lug is stout. As you know, there is a blind hole in the receiver and the Warnes have a recoil pin to go into that hole. The Warne rings clamp onto the receiver dovetail from there. You're not relying on small mounting screws to handle the recoil/shear.

Good point and one I have been giving some thought to.
I haven,t read of anyone having an issue with the rings and the screws on either the Talleys or DNZ yet
But still an excellent point !
Extra-low talleys on my SL 3006 with a Swaro almost touching the barrel. Perfect.
Warne was the the choice for a T3 lite 300WSM.

Would have preferred an alloy ring, but it was at the expense of ignoring the built in strength benefits of the low integral rail.
Steve how about a pic of said Rifle W/Scope...ScottyO.
Not Steve but IIRC these are Talley Extra Lows with a VXIII 3.5-10x40 on my wifes SL .308.

Its been 4 years so they may be lows.
