I'm looking at one tomorrow. Guy says it has open sights. Did the classic guns have open sights?
The larger bores and some magnums had sights. The 35 Whelen did..
I have owned two of those Classic Whelen's. Both came with factory sights. If it is very original it will still have the hood over the front sight.
I never post but check everyday. I bought the 35 when it came out as the Classic. It is the most accurate 700 I have ever owned.
Ditto on the accuracy. Nice balance too!
My classic Whelen has sights. And yes, it's accurate. Just about any load I've tried has shot well.
with the 250gr factory load I can cover three shots with a dime out of mine. Last rifle I'll ever let go
