As hunting season is closing in, we did a little last minute prep work. I just finished bedding my step-sons 300 Win. in its new stock(Boyds)last week and zeroed (300 yrds.) today. It wont win any bench rest matches, but should be good well beyond 400(hope no shots are taken that far). Checked my wife's .338 WM and my rifle for our 300 yrd. zeros. Mine required a little "tweeking", from recent load development. Then it was down to business from field positions(sitting, prone, sticks, and a verticle rest). We had plastic jugs (various sizes) set up at 300 yrds. Wife went first, from sitting position (her go to, other than sticks) and on first shot "smoked" a gallon milk jug. Not a lot of rounds down range, but she's very confident with her rifle. I, on the other hand made a few "spectacular" misses. So, my confidence took a little "hit"! She also reminded me often, that she outshot me (again)!! If the elk are a little larger than a large ketchup bottle, maybe I can hit one. blush memtb
Field practice is always a good thing. Good luck with your hunting this year.
