My sons rifle and group after sight in.

Tikka T3 SS 243 win, B&C medalist, Burris EI 3-9x40mm and a blue box of the Federal 100 grain power shock.

Makes a dad proud when his boy can hold groups like this. This was the best group, the average was around .500 for three shots.

He cant wate to work up some loads for this rifle

That might work laugh

Yep , pretty typical out of a tikka, great time we're living in right now.

I dont even work up loads, its seems all of them shoot equally well so I jsut pick one at the speed I want to go.

Might just want to stick with that blue box stuff....

That sets the bar a little high for sure. Be curious to see what a 105 Amax would do.

Federal blue box has always been good ammo and we get it for $14.97 at Wall World but he will still make some loads.

Cant wate to see how it shoots 70 grain Nosler BT's

Could the Tikka barrel spin them fast enough?
Posted By: 16bore Re: Nice T3 group - 10/05/15
In theory, no (1:10). But the damn things bughole everything else, it'd be nice to see one fail.

Of course the 162 Amax box says "1:8 twist" and they are dandy out of 1:9-1/4.

Hmmmm.....

Yeah, that's ok. wink tell your son great job and good luck!

My two Tikkas will do the same.

One a 223 1:8, set up with the Burris FFII 3-9x40. With 65 Sierra GK or 69 SMKs over 24 grains of TAC I get one ragged hole at 100 and sub 3/4-MOA at 200.

The other a 243 Hunter with Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 has shown sub 1" groups at 200 with regularity with 90 gr NBTs over 43.5 of IMR 4350.

Love those guns.

80 Amax over Varget and 75's over anything have been good in mine. Might even try baking powder just to see.

Use a magnum primer and you'll be fine.

Blows my mind how fellas continue to trash these rifles....

I've never owned a T3, but I have been witness to the accuracy of several in several different calibers. They do shoot rather well.

Waiting on a Hunter in 6.5 Swede. Is there any concern with voiding your warranty by using handloads? I think that is on the front page of the owners manual.

If it is I would not tell them but always first shoot factory if you are concerned that there is or could be a problem with the rifle, but I bet it is fine

I will probably test fire it with some factory ammo, do a short break in with some starting load handloads.
