Anybody ever owned a Weatherby MK V Ultra Lightweight in 240 Wby Mag? I had a German built .240 I let go and thinking about getting another one. Thoughts or experiences?

Thanks
Unless you have to have the MarkV, the Vanguard can be had in .240. The savings would buy a pretty nice scope.
One sold in the classifieds within the last couple of years, because I looked pretty hard at it. It sold fast and I ended up buying a custom a few months later. Here's a link to the ad. You could PM the purchaser and ask his opinion.

The extra money on a MkV buys a bit less rifle. As in Vanguards are pigs esp. in comparison to a much lighter six-lug action.
$1350 more to save a pound is pretty sporty, but to each his own.

I never but new, so the difference would not have been that big. Was looking at a nice used one, but it got away. Already own a 257 and 270 Wby mag; so I really did not "need" another one; but......

Thanks anyway guys
The new Wilderness model Vanguard with the detachable magazine should go about 6.5 pounds in 240 Weatherby
That's the one I was comparing to the MarkV Ultra Lightweight. I think they list it at 6 3/4lbs as opposed to 5 3/4 for the six-lugger.

I actually like the little Marks, but the price is just too steep. For that kind of money, I'd more likely rebarrel a Montana long action to 6mm/06 or 6mm/.284 with a 1-8 twist. That might not satisfy someone that goes for the Weatherby look, but I like the little Marks in spite of that, not because of it.
Looking around, shopping and taking your time can yield a new/new-ish rifle for a bit less than MSRP, but you have to jump when the deal is there. The most I've paid for any of my MkV's is $999 for my Deluxe in 7-08 NIB. Granted it was a factory second, due to a mistake in the checkering .... I can live with it, unless I point it out most can't notice. smile < 1" with several different factory loads with nothing other than a trigger tweak to 2.5#. FX-III 6x atop in Talley LW's well less than 8#'s sans sling and boolits. If I was a hunter worth half a schitt I'd need little else and my ark would be full ...... Luckily for mother nature, I'm a lousy hunter wink.
I own one of the huckleberry "Bees". Awesome rifle, very accurate and lightweight.
