I have only used 100 sierras so far. Devistating round! Turns small game inside out. Looking forward to loading some NBT 100 and 120s. Would either of these be considered for elk? Up to 300yds with good shot placement? Or would 139 Hornady or 140 NBT for that matter?

My creedmoor has proven deadly with the 120 ttsx. But never talked to anyone who doesn't like the 120 ballistic tip.

We have been impressed with the 120 gr Ballistic Tip so far on deer but the 140 gr version would be better in my opinion for bigger animals than the 120's. I would prefer a premium for elk though such as the Accubond, Partition, TTSX and the like......

If I was developing an elk load for the 260, I would start with the 130 grain AB and the 140 grain Partition.

don't underestimate the 129 grain Hornady SP...or their 140 grain SP...

I shot a couple of kudu with 120 BT's at 3000 and they worked OK.

Kudu aren't as big as most elk. I think there are much better bullets for elk than a 120 BT, but that is just an opinion from someone that never killed an elk with a 120 BT.

I really wanna try the 140 BT in mine. Kinda think it might make a do-all big game load...

But as of this point my .260 remains NIB and in the safe. Have a few 120 BTs loaded up and may get the chance to try them in the next week or so...

I've shot two cow elk with the 129 and they did very well - the 140 is probably a better pick, however.
NO flies whatsoever on the Noslers, a great choice. Just not "necessary" on game smaller than elk - IMO

I would be looking at the 127 LRX at 2,900. H4350 45.0

Would like very much to hear about experiences with the LRX bullet.

I have limited experience with the tsx, but in 2 of 3 cartridges i loaeded it for i didn't get the velocity I wanted.

As to the LRX, I'd like to hear about it's use on game at both normal and long range...

I am using Nosler Accubond LR @129 gr bullets on top of 43.7 grains of Hybrid 100 V . Its about a 96% load in the case. I am getting 2861 fps with a +/- average variance of about 9 fps. First group (3) was a little ragged at .901 but they tightened up to an average of .683, best being .524 and the ugliest at .719. I tried running them out a bit faster and the groups opened up to almost 1"..so I throttled 'em back and am very happy with the results. I would like to try some 142 gr Accubond LR's but with the way my rifle is running with the 129's..I really do not see an advantage to upping the game right now.

Sorry I forgot to add that the rifle I am using is a 1:8 twist 22" barreled action.
