How do you make something shooting a .277 projectile not gay?

A number of ways...

1) DON'T make it a .270 Win..

2) Give it a different case and a Tacticool Metric Designation like 6.8spc

3) Make sure its in a Black Rifle...

4) Remain in denial about any homosexual thoughts etc. to your cyber-friends.

5) Photograph it with non-gay items, like whiskey and dead animal skins...

6) Have Ingwe own one...makes it automatically uber-hetero and mega-cool...

I dabbled a little with the 6.8, seemed to shoot okay. For one of those modest sized-cartridges though, I think next I'll work with a Grendel. Anything named after a legendary viking-eating monster can't be gay.

Seriously nice rifle but shooting a .277 caliber cartridge with less powder capacity than the original Win makes you wonder about the shooter's orientation.

Aside from being curiously queer, the problem I have with the .270 caliber is the lack of quality bullets within a very limited population. That makes it double dog queer.

I'm a .270 fan and I always get a kick out of .270 bashing.

The 6.8 definitely kills stuff if you point it right. I've done it, several times, on animals from a coyote to a good-sized feral boar.

But the recoil can be a problem for some people. Judging from Ingwe's cartridge choices over the past several years, he might be one...:-)

No worries...it already seems to have an affinity for Barnes 95 grain TTSX....

Ive been reading posts by .270 shooters for years....

The only bullet I've used in the 6.8 is the 95 TTSX, because I was hunting with Bill Wilson (Wilson Combat) on his Texas ranch, using a couple of Wilson AR-15's and his handloads. As noted, they worked great.

But while Bill prefers the TTSX for pigs (which are his main focus, and the main reason he bought the ranch!), he prefers 110 AccuBonds for deer--which his wife really likes to hunt. The ranch is in NE Texas, not very far from Oklahoma, so the deer can be quite a bit bigger than in South Texas. He says the 110 AB's put a big buck down quicker than the TTSX's--and Bill's one of those who doesn't like looking around for dead animals in Texas thickets, especially at night!

I might have some extra 110 AB's if you want to play with some....

I've got a 27 Whelen that I am thinking about trying the 95 grain TTSX's in. I have never had a chance to work with the 110 grain Accubond, but I have shot a few things with the 110 grain TTSX out of the 270 WSM. It works pretty good.

I've seen more spin here than the Clinton campaign...

By the way, Ingwe, I shot that little porker at 92 yards (laser ranged) off sticks. He kept moving behind a scrub oak, but when he finally turned to face me and put his head down I slipped a factory 158 grain Prvi Grom right between his ears. His sister took off, but he didn't. He never heard the shot.

Nothing special. We just pick it up at the grocery store (store brand - Publix). It's pretty good, although you can also make it yourself. It's not that hard.
