I received info that the 2016 or 2017 does not have a Monte Carlo stock and they completely dropped the high comb on all models, not just the Anniversary Edition.

Can anyone confirm this? Anybody have a pic of on one? I'm specifically interested in a carbine personally.

The website shows a Monte Carlo stock. There is a special order 200th anniversary model with the old style low comb stock.

My ownership experience with the 7600 is limited to just one. A 35 Whelen. One I could kick myself for selling. I like the guns. Mine was easily MOA with most of what I fed it. I always thought Remington was missing the boat by not offering that gun in a stainless, synthetic "Guide" gun configuration. I'd like to see them ditch the high comb stock and go with a more classic style stock. Heck if they built a guide gun I'd like to see it with a straight grip stock. Give it a 20 inch barrel too please. I'll take mine in 338 Federal or 35 Whelen...with a recoil pad.

Can't confirm this but that is what I have been hearing. An acquaintance with buddies working for Remington told me that they are using Hal Blood's (now works for Remington) 7600 as a template.

I just googled up some of his images. His guns look like any other 7600 with the exception of the classic stock. What other concepts might he be bringing into play?

No idea but I will ask. Knowing Remington they will most likely cheapen everything and then raise the price.

Actually, I was told that the "new redesign" would actually lower the cost. Some suggested an "Express" style.

Picture on their website still has the high-comb stock. I can't imagine them doing away with the high comb considering how the majority of people put glass on top of them.

I'd like to see them get rid of the drop on the stock, then the comb wouldn't be necessary.

Hopefully not his ego, attitude and personality!

Hal told me that. That's why I'm asking.

Anymore news on this?

The Remington pumps (760, 7600 and so on) are rifles I have some degree of respect for. If I were at the helm of Remington I would make a few changes, but overall I like them.
I'd love to see an up-graded extractor that was stronger, and I'd like to see the triggers modified to get better pulls.
The largest modification I would demand would be to change the pump hanger to be changed from round to square and the corresponding sleeve to also be made square. I'd spec them out to give .006" clearance between the two. In doing that the fore-end could not be twisted enough to cause the wood to touch the barrel. So the advantages of the free floating barrel would be fully realized.

If you carefully hold the fore-ends straight and put no twist to them, 760s can be super accurate. I have zeroed a number of them in my shop that with correct loads shot under 3/4 MOA.
As accurate as most bolt actions and easy to get to shoot well too.
