I just purchased a new Tikka 300WSM and before I start tinkering with hand loads for it I wanted to try a few factory loads first. I mostly whitetail deer hunt. Most of my shots are 100-350 yds. The few rounds I am considering are Winchester 180 grain Accubonds (these shoot extremely well out of my Tikka 270WSM), Federal premium or Nosler 165 partitions and Barnes 165 grain TTSX. Anyone have the same gun and shooting any of these? What's you guys' thoughts? Any other factory rounds you suggest? I have plenty of powder and 30 cal projectiles (150 gr TTSX) to hand load if I need to but don't have dies or brass and since my other Tikka shoots factory ammo so well I figured id try some first. Thanks
I really like the Federal Trophy Bonded Tips.

My 300 WSM loves them as does my 300 Win Mag.
I like the Federal bonded also.
Reviews posted on Federals website says owners of Tikka, Sako and Winchester rifles have feeding and chambering issues with these rounds. All other seem to love it.

My Winchester 70 feeds and ejects Federal ammo just fine. I primarily hand load, but a year or so ago Walmart had Federal Deer Thug 300 WSM on clearance for about $10/box. I bought 8 boxes just to get the brass. But it has proven to work shoot very well. I had previously bought some of the blue box ammo. It isn't as accurate.
If you're shooting antelope or deer, the 150 grain Deer Season XP at 3,200 fps might be worth considering. The Winchester/Olin Deer Season XP factory ammo has been very accurate in every cartridge and rifle that I've used it in.
I only had one for a short time.. But Fed blue bx 180's shot super..

Might have t try those out! Thanks
Dont shoot the black box Ballistic Silvertips if you like venison. Damn things blow up like dynamite even on lung shots
Not sure about the Tikka, but my Browning shoots very, very well with the Barnes offerings.
How is Federal brass?
I would love a varmint in 6.5x55. They make it. I wish they would import it.
I love the Barnes factory stuff......Good luck.....Hb

Yes I found that out the hard way many years ago with a Ruger M77 7mm Rem Mag. Destroys everything it touches but was probably the most accurate factory ammo I ever shot out of several guns.
Another vote for the Federal Bonded Tips, though they're probably more bullet than you need for deer.
Mine shoots Nosler Custom 180 NABs very, very well.
I have a Sako A7S fluted barrel in 300 WSM, shoots HSM 168 and 185 Bergers into 1/2" and 5/8" groups and I ain't that good a bench shooter! I'm using a NF SHV 4-14 scope on 14 while shooting. I have a Remington 300 WSM and it really likes the Winchester XP3 150 grain Ballistic Tips. I don't shoot this rifle so well, it seems to kick more, I have a friend here on the fire that has shot 1.5" groups at 200 yards with this load. Good luck.
I had a savage stainless pencil barrel 300wsm kicked like a mule but shot extremely good with Winchester supreme ballistic tip 150's
Federal Fusion or Barnes TTSX
