Ok I have a 1983 produced win m70 with the hard red recoil pad. I want to replace it to help the old shoulder out. Limbsaver says 10001 fits most featherweights but the template does not match the factory stock. I did find some templates close to the correct dimensions but the screw holes are off and the stock is hollowed on the end so can't redrill new holes. Has anyone replaced the pad on this era production gun? If so what part number fits. I dont have a belt sander so not able to do the grind to fit method. Thanks.
I tried to put that limbsaver on a featherweight xtr and it did not fit correctly. Holes were off and needed sanding to match butt. No recommendations for an alternate, but confirming non fit with the limbsaver.
I think the Pachmayer Decelerator "Small" fits those stocks pretty closely. Will probably need some grinding though.

They now make the size Small in Red too!! That would look sharp!

That's what my gunsmith put on my M70 FWT 7x57, not so much that the rifle kicked but so my wife could enjoy it. Works quite well too. Made a very pleasant rifle even more pleasant.

None of the so-called "pre-fit" pads actually 'fit'... Oh, you might get lucky once outta a hundred times.. If so, immeditately go out and buy a LOTTO ticket..

You want to replace the pad? Hire a gunsmith to do it right and well.. Just my .02.. smile

This. But make sure the pad is English red! grin
I will look at the small Pachmayer and see if I can find a template to confirm. Thanks
