Working on a rifle for my cousin and he wants to shoot factory loads. What hunting rounds have yall had good luck with for accuarcy and on game performance?
It is a browning xbolt and will be shooting max 500yrds.
Thanks
I like the 130g winchester ballistic silver tips.
While I know there are some that turn their nose up at them, I have shot 130 gr. Core-Lokts for years with excellent results in my little tang safety Ruger UL, as well as my son's 77 MKII. And, they are easily found.
I shoot Remington Express 100gr. Double lung shot on a Missouri buck at 317 yards complete pass through.Very flat shooting round. They are hard to find.
I suspect that you are chasing deer so most loads are up to the task. Now is 500 a realistic maximum, or is it likely to be 300 or less with a chance of a long shot and 500 is as far as he's likely to be competent to?
Federal has been good to me in all my .270's, usually at least one of their loads will shoot.
130 grain Federal blue box loads, but I'd try to stay under 500 yards.
The Nosler custom shoots well in mine, both Accubonds and Ballistic tips.
140 Hornady BTSP, .486 BC @ 2,940.
Federal has always been good to me. Blue Box and Premium
Hornady Whitetail 130 SP and Nosler 130 Accubonds.
I shoot Hornady Amerian Whitetail 130 grain and Winchester/Olin PowerMax Bonded 130 grain factory loads in my 270s.
The heavier 140 grain Hornady American Whitetail and 150 grain Winchester/Olin PowerMax Bonded factory load might be superior at longer, 300+ yards, ranges.
Another shout out for the Hornady American Whitetail 130gr. SP.
My X-Bolt loved the 130 grain Federal Power Shok and the 130 grain Remington Core Lokts.
