Should have bought the A bolt... Should have kept the pre 81...

So who has one I could buy today?
Grice's in PA had still listed their special run Hawkeyes a couple days ago, if you're not allergic to basket-weave checkering.

Mildly.... Slight inflammation could occur.
I got one this week and just sighted in w/200 gr hand-loads I had from a Browning 358 lever. First group @ 100 yards went 1.015". This with 2x7 Leupold Heavy Duplex, 8# trigger and wood touching the barrel. Definitely has potential, with load development, trigger work and free float the barrel this should be an easy sub MOA gun.
Always had a weakness for the .358 Win.

Take some Benadryl and swap the stock for a McMillan...
Or try to find a used Ruger Hawkeye all weather. I love mine.
That floorplate on the other hand , I can't get past.
I'm just going to spend the next year combing GunBroker and classifieds for a Browning or Ruger to rebarrel.
Wish they would run some Ruger Americans .
Could there be a re-bore in your near future as well????
Sadly, Ruger no longer lists any 358s on their website. Looks like it's a Browning BLR or nothing. frown
I'd rather rebarrel than rebore. That way I get the BBL length I want.
Rebore +cut+recrown would probably be the same after work. I'm
I got lucky the other day. My wife works at a local gun shop. I stopped in to visit, and low and behold sitting in the used rack is a cherry tang safety Ruger M77 in .358. Had her put it in lay away, I get it next week. Have an older gloss Burris 1.75-5 on the way from Ebay. Already have loads that I loaded for a previous 358 Hawkeye. I should have it all together for opening day gun season.

JES cut my two to 20.5 with a great crown for a very minimal fee as part of the job.
