I just picked up a beautiful early (1600 serial range) Sako Finnwolf in .308. I would like to get an extra magazine, but find nothing on the internet. I am thinking it might be nearly impossible to find. Any help???/ Bob

If you don’t have any luck here, keep an eye on eBay, one will definitely surface.
Another option is to post a wtb on the Sako Collectors Forum.

Good luck, make sure it is the correct one for your rifle. There are 2 kinds. I have both the 308 and 243 and I got a spare for good measure. You won’t find anything under $400.00, but you have to realize what your gun is worth without it if you lose a magazine.

There are also 2 Sako dealers in Hamilton, Montana that may have one. Mike’s Customshop and Customshop. That sounds confusing and it is, they are 2 separate places and probably your best bet for a magazine. Yours with the low serial number is probably the 4 round version with the “coffin” bottom and will even be harder to find...

Shrap mention two types, one is a flat bottom and one is a rounded bottom known as coffin type he mentioned. They do not interchange. Hard to know which your gun requires until you buy the wrong one. I have heard of individuals paying large amounts having custom ones made. I found one in 3 years of looking which cost $385.00
I replied to another party that answered my post and lucked out at a gun show today and found an early Finnwolf mag. for $150. The seller also showed me a Winchester model 88 magazine. We compared them side by side and I just have to believe that Sako purchased patent rights from Winchester OR just copied the magazine. I have to believe that a Win. Model 88 mag could be made to work in a Finnwolf without much modification. Anyone agree?/

You were very fortunate.
I’d never trust a M88 magazine to feed correctly in a Finnwolf.
I grew up with both 88's and VL63's in the house. The 88 mags will go into the Finnwolf well and lock in, but not vice versa. I did not try to cycle rounds with the cross fitted magazine, so I can't tell you there. I'd seen someone selling an 88 mag that was adapted for FInnwolf use for sale on ebay. I couldn't see the nuances of the difference aside from the flat plate adapted to the 88 mag bottom.
