Went out to my uncles this morning and while we are sitting at his dinner table he looks out the window an sees a fox sniffing around a rock pile on the edge of his stubble field. So I run out to the pickup and grab my new 17 hornet and get a rest off his deck. He ranged the rock pile at just under 260 yards. I bark to get him to quit bouncing around and drop the hammer. He spun around twice and was down. Bullet went in broadside and never came out. Not as fun as calling but I'll take the fur either way.

Sorry for the bad picture. Didnt have my camera with me today so all I could get was a frozen fox on my garage floor. Ignore the shorts, long johns and work boots.
Congrats.

I can't.
Laker: Wow great way to break in a new Rifle/caliber!
Thanks for the great report and the photo.
What model/brand is your 17 Hornet Rifle?
Factory ammo or handloads?
Keep up the good work.

I've got the ugly savage synthetic stock one. I used the factory 20 grain vmax until my dies come.
Laker: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!
If it shoots good and kills quickly then taht will make up for a lot of esthetic deficiencies.
Thanks for the info.
There are two boxes of Hornady ammo at my local pawn sport shop - maybe I should pick them up?
Thanks for the info.

VarmintGuy, huntsman22 is right two boxes isnt enough. I went through my two boxes fast. Its a fun little round. Good thing I went outta town today and found some dies and brass so I can start working some loads up on my next days off if its not windy.
