I Had this badger come in the other day only the 3rd one I have ever seen in my life. The first one was about 30 years ago Near Ranger Texas and the second was Near Aspen Colorado both crossing a highway. This was the first ever I have seen while hunting.

I've had them come in to a call.

Supposedly they do not hibernate although commonly seen late winter/early spring and early summer in this area, I have not seen one in the winter either alive or dead on the road.

they ain't worth mounting till late winter anyway....

unless a guy just gets all sentimental over summer furred trophies....

How they smell kinda depends on the time of year. I've shot some that hardly smell at all then I've shot some during breeding season that actually made me gag.

You were just pissed because you were sweating a lot that day.

I see maybe one a year here at our ranch in N.TX. Mom said they were all over that country when she was a little kid, though.

On a hunt with Huntsonora and a buddy 3 years ago in Colorado, I was chasing one with my Nikon D-70 while Huntsonora was laughing his big ass off.

DLFant: Congratulations on your first Badger then - good for you!
I normally see 20 or 25 a year here in SW and eastern Montana.
I killed 3 in one day a few years ago.
I normally try to get my Hunting companions who have not harvetsed a Badger yet to have first shot at them anymore.
They make great rugs or life size mounts.

My experience with Badgers is in the p/dog fields....

Have had them come in ready to kick azz & take names...

They have no fear of armed humans...I would like to life

size mount one...they are a target of opportunity for us...
