The gophers caught hell today. It really was a bad day for them, the weather was good and they were out in large numbers.

I had:

1 USFA Lightning 38-40,
1 Model 1894 SRC in 32-40
2 Sako 222 mags
1 Sako Finnwolf 308
1 Sako 6mm PPC
1 Colt Sauer 22-250

They all killed plenty...

Never too many.......
Wow, we might have to start calling you Varmint Guy smirk grin
A day well spent.......
No such thing as too many guns. Now maybe you needed a "gun bearer" but that could probably be arranged!!

No!!!!!
No way

I have never seen Shrapnel mention "varminter" and he has never had a problem locating 22 lr Ammunition. I think Varmintlooney went a year and looked at a hundred gun stores and 2 dozen gunshows before finding a box for sale....lol

Although, VG always says he has had xx number of Varminters in any one caliber, depending on the post he jumps in on, but none of them seem to be of the class Shrapnel has.

I also can't believe you switched from a real Lightening ( I think you have a 38 caliber?) and even have a USFA rifle. I have an old relined 22 short and it is a blast to plink with.

I limit myself to 6 centerfire rifles, but my outings are 3 day road trips for Beldings Skippy. A 223 is for the long shots, 17 and 20's for volume shooting.
Looks like a lot of fun. Someday, I'll have to point the truck west on I-94.

I didn't get rid of any original Lightnings, I just got the USFA as they are rare and extremely well made. I never saw one in 38-40 before...

This 22 Long Colt Lightning was made in 1890.
It is on the ragged edge of functioning.
I feel like I need to buy another one to make copies of parts for spares.
You, Sir, do not have too many guns. What you have is a history collection, and examples of real craftsman ship. You are a fortunate man!
Never too many
Here are the 22 centerfire calibers I have guns in. Some I also have single shot handguns in also

not a day goes by I'm not trying to decide what i going to get next , pistol, rifle, or shotgun
Nice to know someone else is always considering what should I get next..
We all have the same sickness.....
One should only have four in a given bore size. But there's lots of bore sizes.

Where do you come up with these silly ideas?
Years ago when I was full of piss and vinegar I shot a heavy barrel 25-06.
Once some guys tagged along with no hearing protection. Lol
