I picked up another 221FB from a member here back in the summer. The rifle shot the factory accutip ammo great, but was giving me some grief at the loading bench. I tried v-max and varmageddons of the 40 and 50g weight and lil gun powder. I was determined to find a load within those parameters because I had so much on hand. I ended switching from a Winchester primer to a CCI BR4 and boy did that change things. We ended up with the 40g varmageddon and 15g even of Lil gun.

Every 3 shot group at 100 looks like this. Warm barrel or cold bore it does not matter it is boringly consistent.

Out at 200 yards the groups open up to this. Roughly 1.25-1.5. Still not too shabby from a bone stock 700 LVSF. I may do some more load work in the future with RL7 anda differnt bullet but I'm totally content in running this for this year.

Nice!!
If you miss a dog it's not the rifles fault !
It's all on me at this point

Maybe it's the rifle, maybe it's the load , I'm not sure it s is the most consistent one I've ever owned.
I had an LVSF in 17Rem that was inconsistent as hell....one day it was BR accurate and the next MOA at best.....which is still Minute of Coyote....but being the anal SOB that I am I chased my tail with that dam rifle until I was blue in the face.....
Best I could figure was those pressure bumps in the for end of that plastic stock setting right on the edge of the flutes was the culprit....I never followed up that theory but take a look at the caper and see what you think....free floating and bedding might solve it but you'd still have a plastic stock that doesn't set in shooting stix for chit....
I haven't had this one out of its stock. The way it's shooting I'm
About 1/2 afraid to change anything. It was super picky at first. Really didn't show much signs of wanting to shoot anything. Then I stumbled onto this load and wallah. I have shot a few groups everyday (including today) after work to make sure nothing changes. Nothing yet. It's holding just like you see in the pic above. I have heard these rifles were picky and this has lived up to that reputation. But as it sits at the moment. I've never had a rifle make me look so good lol.
