I was cruising the internet looking for waterproof/windproof/ breathable hunting pants and found Hycreek gear. Does any of the campfire use this gear? Wondering how good it is? Thanks for any help!

I haven't used it but a friend of mine does and he loves it.

I've used it for the last two seasons and love it. It works in varied conditions and I can get it in sizes that fit.

I'm considering adding a few pieces to the wish list for Santa, check out www.hycreek.com for some reviews, though it may be a bit of overkill for my neck of the woods.

Mesabi & IrishTN... How are you guys layering under the shell? Is the 2 layers under too much for spot and stalk?

Well, depending on altitude and time of year it would be your choice. With the shell, and situation 2 layers of poly type layering would be good. I have my left over poly-pro type CW gear from uncle sam and it kept me good and warm when I took a swim in the Chicamaugua in March. Anywho, yes a thin whicking type poly for your base and a thicker 2nd for insulation then the shell, would be ideal for a sneek and peek, just enough to keep you warm sitting still and not enough to seriously over heat while on the stalk.

Down here I'll be using the Under Armor type layering, not so much for the fall, but those January Goose hunts could get a little frosty....;-)
